I know I'm probably late in discovering this artist, but I just picked up this cd by Patrick Wolf:

Has anyone heard his earlier albums and if they have any recommendations? Magic Position is an amazing CD in my opinion and I'm looking into getting one of his older cds.

He makes Rufus Wainright seem downright macho in comparison.

his two other albums (wind in the wires and lycanthropy) are brilliant as well, i've never seen lycanthropy here in the states but its worth buying the import online. also some of his singles have some pretty great b-sides so those are worth checking out too. i've never seen him live (was meant to last summer but he got ill) but i've heard some pretty great reviews of his gigs! so i'd say his two other albums are certainly worth buying!!

He IS great.  I saw him in concert a couple of weeks ago in Philly and he came out looking like a cross between Lil' Abner and Hedwig.  He was opening for...Amy Winehouse.
