does anyone know what's going on with them?  did they even announce that they were on hiatus or broken up?  is mac just doing portastatic for the foreseeable future?

the acoustic version of "detroit has a skyline too" on "cup of sand" is pretty fantastic

They were just on hiatus. They have dates in Chicago and a free show in NYC soon.

MISFITS AND MISTAKES COMING JUNE 5TH
A Superchunk 7" single comes out June 5th! and it's a freaking picture disc no less. "Misfits and Mistakes" is the A-side, and the flip is the same song, only with everyone's favorite meat wad, Meatwad, singing.

[plus the info that Wanderlust mentioned about Chicago/NYC shows]

When I lived in Chapel Hill for a year, the drummer for Superchunk was in line behind me a couple of time at Whole Foods (then Fresh Fields).

I offered to buy his groceries for him, but he refused my charity.

if they were playing with the mountain goats and the ponys for free in brooklyn (that's the lineup for chicago), i'd definitely go to that. i'm still kinda tempted. superchunk's right there with ted leo in the "seriously, how can you NOT love them?" category, i think.

I find all four of those bands annoying to varying degrees!

Don't love them.  Tried because my friend loves them so much, but I don't get them.  Don't hate 'em, but have no love (and wouldn't see them for free, probably...)
