Don't forget...
« on: August 25, 2003, 10:35:00 am »
Everyone's soon to be favorite band, Exit Clov, is headlining tonite at the Velvet Lounge. As mentioned previously, there is nothing else going on in the DC music scene at all (except Justin and Christina). And, rumor has it the much maligned Otis Finch might not even be playing. So come on out, support an up and coming band, and see why I continue to promote them despite the fact that few of you pay any attention to me. All it takes is one convert.  :p

No markie, the girls are hot...the guys are kinda scrawny. Unless you're into that sort of thing.

Girls always swoon over scrawny guys who have no asses. If the guys are in a band it magnifies the effect.

Yes, one more plug before the end of the day...if you've got nothing to do, come on down to the show. The band goes on around 11 or so. I wouldn't keep bugging you all if I didn't think it was worth it. Feel free to say hi to me, i'm the tall goofy dude in the glasses and t-shirt. I'll have a really happy grin on my face and will be seen kissing a girl from the band soon after the performance. Good times....  :D

Redsock, I would love to go and check themout, but I am just BEAT.  I saw too many shows this weekend, drank too much beer -- especially on Sunday night.  Bad, bad bags.

Please be sure to mention their next gig on the boards?

Have fun, and no sloppy kisses -- that's just braggin'!    ;)

Well, my guess is that none of you probably showed up last night, and shame on you i might add. Despite the early sound issues (the board guy took three songs to get one lousy vocal mic working), for their first real show as a quintet the band rocked. Better than I expected them to.

But, you're in luck, and there are two shows this weekend, Friday at Rhodeside Grill in Arlington, and Saturday night headlining gig at Stacatto. The Stacatto show is the one to catch, as it is their official debut. As much as it scares me, they are really good, and they need the exposure, especially with new folks, so spend 2 hours of your life with Exit Clov on Saturday. And for the first five board members to identify themselves to me, I'll even buy you a drink. Now that's a deal.

Wow, you're really in love, eh?

Staccato sounds cool.  Can you tell me a little about how Exit Clov sound so I can convince some friends to go?

 Also, any other bands playing?

I think you've heard some stuff on their site, but they rock quite a bit more than their studio stuff. They did a great cover of Radiohead's "You and what army". They are a little all over the map, some Chilli Pepper funk, some Shangri-la pop, and some Belle and Sebastian weeping. There is a little something for everyone.

Self Unity and Hushmoney are opening. I think I've heard some of their stuff, but none of it seemed memorable. I'm glad you're thinking of coming, at least someone on this board is willing to take a risk!
