the replacements (i will dare tour) w/ x

the velvet crush w/ oasis  (i startled tommy keene who was playing guitar with them, when i yelled out his name)

the replacements with r.e.m... they came on after the three' o' clock as a suprise guest.  paul played drums for a drunken cover of "if i only had a brain"

the mighthy lemon drops with chameleons uk.... the chameleon took their sweet arse time getting on stage and i left before they even came on.

 iggy pop with the pretenders

 janes addition with iggy pop
T.Rex

agreed, far better than Doves [/b]
Are you kidding....Doves were amazing at that show, totally made me re-listen to Last Broadcast and realize just how great an album it was.

I'm curious to hear your reason why you think I am wrong. Elbow was dull, honestly....and almost put me to sleep. Doves rocked...I wish I saw them again later last summer....

you just are wrong, it's that simple  ;)

actually, you can reverse what you said, Doves are dull to me, very dull, Elbow was fantastic, the song newborn is one of the best live songs i have seen in the last couple of years, I can't tell one doves song from the next, kind of like the new radiohead album, it is meaningless to me

I think elbows first album is better than the 2 doves albums. And I think Guy from elbow can be really dis-arming live. Doves are much more stand-offish and it was noticeable how far back on the stage they were.....

But really I think they were both pretty decent live.

If I had to choose one, I would go for Ballboy for Cincerama.

 Other ones were

Portastatic (or something like this) for Yo La Tengo at the 9:30.

Someone will have to help me to remember the name of that band from Boston that opened for the singer of the Lemonheads at the Blackcat in 2002.

Burning Brides for Division of Laura Lee at the Blackcat.

Grandaddy for Elliot Smith at the 9:30 (I think they opened for him in 2000 or 2001?)

The Pogues opening for UB40 in the late eighties in Barcelona.

I remember I liked the Posies (but I never became a follower of their music) when they opened for Teenage Fanclub in Barcelona around 1991.

See, at first listen, Last Broadcast was crap...but seeing them live, so much more energy than on the Cd. Since then, I really think it is one of the best albums I own, I keep going back to it. Radiohead is much much different, but they both take chances with their music, I'll agree. And you never know what you'll get.

 Sloan for Pete Yorn (huh?)
Cheap Trick for Cake (double huh?)

Of late, most enjoyed Detroit Cobras as a previously unknown entity to me.
