no really.  we have to beat the Yankees in the process.

i suppose winning the division over them would do the same justice.

This obsession with the Yankees is unhealthy. What's going to happen when the Sox finally win a world series and realize that they STILL aren't in the same league as a franchise? Where is a Red Sox dynasty? Has there ever been one? The inferiority complex just runs so deep...

this coming from a hockey fan at heart, but i think there should be MORE bean balls in baseball, mix it up a little! [/QB]
Baseball players fight like girls...in fact, their scuffles are more fake than the WWF.

yeah but a 90mph fastball in the ribs still hurts, and one to the head can do a lot of damage, probably does not hurt as much as a cricket ball though

I don't think Barry Bonds should be allowed to wear so much armor on his arms to protect him from getting hit

No, what makes Pedro an ass is he beans people, then when theres a brawl he'll stay in the dugout so no one will touch him. Unless of course he see's an 80 year old man coming at him at 1 mile an hour, then he'll get out of the dugout to confront him. I'm sure a Clemens comment will come up, but during a brawl, he'll be the first one out to help protect his teamate.

I don't think Pedro comes out cause If I remember right he got clocked once when someone charged the mound. That was a nice shot.   :D

Why? They intentionally walk him anyways. If you had said Criag Biggio then I would probably agree. I don't know how he swings will all that on.

I agree there's an element of danger in the game when someone is throwing a hard ball of leather at you at 90mph+.

But if you're going to run out to start a fight...start a friggin fight or don't run out at all! Don't give me this huggie-dancie crap and then clear the benches so we all have a nice group huggie-dancie session.

And what kind of pussy kicks dust on someone elses shoes?

The basic fact here is

The NY Yankees are supposed to be good, they are supposed to win, and if you only make it to the ALCS, then ho-hum another so-so year.

When the Sox make it to the ALCS, its pandemonium and for a couple weeks in October, Boston goes nuts, dreaming of a better tomorrow!

face it, if you win the series this year, BFD, but if Boston wins its going to be a new New England holiday!

Of course I can play that card, Its not Clemens fault he's not 160 lbs, and most of that weight is coming from Pedro's 1965 affro. I'm willing to bet he didnt learn to be a hard ass in Boston, my guess is Texas and Nolan Ryan.

What I'm wondering is how it's possible to root for two teams in the same division...
