seriously, has Jack-off White been around long enough to merit a #17 ranking?

They should title it "100 ROCK guitarists with the most name recognition", although what's Ali Farka Toure doin in there?   If you're gonna just say best guitarists of any style, I think the top guys would have to be classical guitar players

Sorry, no one is more deserving or more absent than  the jazz greats.  McLaughlin at #49??  No Al Di Meola, Django Reindhart, Marc Ribot, Bill Frisell?  And, in an unrelated genre, Kevin Shields at #95?  Puh-lease.

Agreed with the Scientist that Johnny Marr deserves a spot too.

If Johnny Marr is not in the top five, it's just proof the list is a load of bollocks, like any other list that comes out.

Neil Young!!! I'm a fan, don't get me wrong, but hardly one of the great guitarists..

 Lou Reed...same as Neil Young.

Carlos Alomar! I didn't see him on there either, he should be top five also.

Don't get me wrong...I love Johnny Ramone, but he's NOT top 100 material! If it was the 100 most INFLUENTIAL then maybe I could see that. Where's Bob Mould?  He's a hell of a guitar player.

I agree with Marr.
And where is Ace Frehely? He belongs up there.

If you're going to put Ace Frehley on the list, you might as well put my father in law on as well.

For those of you who are adding to the list, who would you take off of the list?

The morons that put this list together would probably have Springboard, Dylan, Cobain, Waits and Lydon on a list of best "vocalists"!

I'd take off:

 #95 Shields
 #80 Quine
 #76 Toure
 #79 Gallup
 #61 Turner
 #59-60 Greenwood, O'Brien
 #17 White
 #12 Cobain

For the most part the list is fine, but the placements outside of the top five are ridiculous.

I find it strange that not too long ago Rolling Stone proclaimed Anson Funderburgh as one of the greatest guitarist of the past 20 years, and he's nowhere on that list.

I think all of those artists are effective "vocalists". Good singers, no, but good vocalists.
