Bruins acquire Nylander
The Boston Bruins have acquired center Michael Nylander from the Washington Capitals in exchange for Boston's second round selection in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, it was announced today by Bruins General Manager Mike O'Connell. Nylander is expected in the lineup tonight when the Bruins host the New York Rangers at the FleetCenter in a 7:30 p.m. game.
"Michael is a proven scorer who gives us an additional offensive threat," said O'Connell. "He has fully healed from his injury and we look forward to having him on our team."
Nylander, 31, is in his 11th NHL season and Boston becomes his sixth NHL team. He has twice scored 20+ goals in a season and has scored 50+ points in each of his last four seasons, including a career-high 61-point campaign in 2001-02 as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks.
