The last three sports added to the winter olympics were:

 1. Curling - invented in Scotland and far more popular in Europe and Canada than in the U.S.
 2. Skeleton - Developed in St. Moritz.  Big in the Alpine countries.
 3. Snowboarding - Maybe you can say this is a U.S.-favored sport, but considering it's become the most popular winter sport (after skiing), I don't see how it could have ever been excluded from the Olympics. [/b]
what about the short track skating?  that was recently introduced, wasnt it?

and curling was in the Olympics as a demonstration event many times since 1924. [/b]
Skeleton - 2002
 Curling - 1998
 Snowboarding - 1998
Short Track Speed Skating - 1992

thats what i thought.  yes, if any one of those events were thrown in to boast US medals it would be the Short track.  snowboarding is just inevitably popular and its gonna be a long time til the US gets a curling gold!

Sorry, wrong again.

Historically, Canada was the short track powerhouse.  Recently, Korea has taken over.  The U.S. has consistently been way down on the list.

It would be easier to recognize had it been in person, not written on the internet.

first of all , ggw...i wasnt "wrong" in the first place.   in my inital post, i questioned short track speed skating as a recent addition, i didnt say it was one of the top whatever, i just said, "recently" and you proved me right, by confirming that it came about in the last decade (recent enough, i think!).

secondly, i said, if ANY of those sports were to be considered to be more of a US sport , its Short track, because i was counting out snowboarding, their curling team sucks a big one, both men and women, and i dont believe they have a decent skeleton racer (you guys arent THAT crazy!)

therefore, with Ohno and i think some woman, America has a much better short track team, than curling or skeleton. and from what I've seen, they are getting better and better (the short track team)

if you are still trying to make this a matter or right or wrong, go ahead, but you are simply arguing with yourself, and if you think the US curling team is good, i suggest you watch those losers play a game.....

The US has placed a slider on the podium in four of the last five skeleton world championships, and we are ranked third according to the world curling federation.

But, I think we can all agree that curling, skeleton, and short track were not US-dominated sports when they became Olympic sports but that the US has now become relatively successful in them because we are the greatest nation in the world.

I'm thinking he prefers Michigan, given that he's from there, and did a Michigan record first.
