Well wasn't New York a completely different setting, I imagine they might do it when they have a good crowd, that may only be in Baltimore.  They did say that they had never played the Recher before.  The lead singer told a story about how he grew up down the street and and saw War Games at Recher when it was a movie theater.  His bike was stolen from out front.

Yea, it was on a pier and the stage was about 8 feet high... It would have been tricky.

I cant get over the oranges band seeming so ordinary after Mclusky. Either the oranges band were having a bad night or Mclusky really are awesome live.

One time I will have to endeavour to see them more sober:

 Fuck this band
  And their demon seed
  Cos if they burst out
  You're responsible

  Yeah fuck this band
  Cos their clothes don't fit
  But their dancing clowns
  Are incredible

  Keep your passport near
There is no other disappointment here
There is no other disappointment here
  There are no other obstacles

  Fuck this band
  Cos they swear too much
  It's an obvious ploy
  And irresponsible

  Fuck this band
  Yeah fuck their holes
  But if they split up
  You're responsible

  Keep your passport near
There is no other disappointment here
There is no other disappointment here
  There are no other obstacles

  Fuck this band
  And their foolish pride
  Which lets them think
They can get away with this

I just read a review from the kid who got the setlist and he said that Dont Stop Now was on the setlist but they did not play it.  A Salty Salute was not on the setlist either, like I said, I think they are dropping some of the regular songs for some older ones.

I think the show ended sometime between 12 and 12:30.  They came on around 9:20.

How's the new bass player fitting in?That could have an impact on the setlist as well.

I thought it was a bad match when I saw them in Philly, but he fit right in last night.  Nate seems to be dealing with it better, although he was plastered last night, so hard to tell.  But he was great last night.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed yourself, pollard.

I was there... and the band was good. But I left after a little over an hour, right after 'Beg for that wheelbarrow' song. I didn't leave because the band was bad... but I just wasn't in the mood for a three hour show. When Bob Pollard came onstage, he showed everyone the set list--there were about 50 songs on it.. and I slightly winced--I just couldn't hang that long.

Another reason why I didn't hang for the entire show it's that I'm not terribly familiar with GBV's large body with work. I only have one of their CDs, last year's, 'Universal Truths and Cycles'. It felt more like a test of endurance to stay and listen to a lot of songs I've never heard before. There was also something about the band getting increasingly more drunk as the show went along that I just wasn't digging. I hope they were still legible by the time they did that second encore.

I guess that was it--my first time seeing GBV. They played many of the songs from their new one, 'Earthquake Glue', and I think I'll be picking it up in a bit.

Those were my impressions. Hopefully I'll dig the band more if they come around next time.  :)
