I got "Natural History," the only cd they had.  $13.95 -- I'd looked for I Am Kloot online and they were always mid-$20s, so I grabbed it.  Hope it's a goodie.

Will do on the Metric.  I actually bought that one new, as I'd just read about it.  It was a frenzy, I tell you!

ON?  I got that one and feel that it is treading water compared to the first two albums.

We all did, it was cold this morning so my wife wore trousers for work and I dressed Rory in a nice pair of cords and rugby shirt for the same reason....why the question? What's the relevance?

Redsock, if you can't appreciate The Beautiful South or Waterboys, then I simply cannot waste one more millisecond of my life on you, so please don't make comments to/about me that require a response as you won't get one, thank you.

For anyone else who comes across a Beautiful South cd, may I suggest a 'greatest hits' compilation as it may take a little while to appreciate his wit and humour in the lyrics. Of course, it helps to be a Brit but the doodles on this board should "get it" for the most part....right markie?

I dont know, the constant UK airplay really helped to get the singles under my skin. But there is a fair bit of sly humour that Doodles dont get. Allmusic picks up on the peter Lorre, and lorry wordplay.

Still I think the earlier albums are better than quench.

They all have great meoldies and wit though, I dont think it is that much of a stretch to like them, they are a bit "housewives favourite" though.

 I like them.

I went to Amoeba in San Francisco -- my first trip to an Amoeba anywhere.  CDs weren't cheap -- used ranged from 4.95 to 8.95.  But it was a glorious three hours in a huge, huge store.

Been to Amoeba in SF and LA...both trips very fruitful. Maybe the best stores I have been to, period. Haven't been to the Berkeley store yet.

Ok, that makes tons of sense. with the list you had I guessed it was going to be somewhere good. Last time i was at the SF store I spent $150. I found loads of used scratched cds for really cheap. I couldnt even see any scratches most of the time.

Yup, I got overwhelmed and couldn't go through the $3 and $1 sections.  I went through the entire "new arrivals" section, which was as big as the whole middle island in DCCD.  And then I went band by band for some things.

Can't wait to check out the L.A. store.

HEY -- now you'll know me at shows by my Amoeba t-shirt, which I bet I wear a lot for a couple months!  Or else I'm in my most beloved Fleshtones t-shirt.  Oh yeah, go Brooklyn!!

They never get a good review from the British press anyway...just like the Smiths back in the day.

That review says absolutely NOTHING about the album, good or bad. I received my copy yesterday and after a couple of listens find it very good....the lyrics are Heaton as his usual sarcastic/cynical self. I think you have to be a Beautiful South fan to appreciate it though, so not one to introduce casual music fans to.....which begs the question for markie, greatest hits compilations not included, what BS album would you recommend if you were introducing someone to the BS?
