So my doctor's office is transitioning to a "concierge" model, where you pay an annual membership fee for the privilege of being a patient of theirs. They still take insurance money (and presumably Medicare/Medicaid), but you have to be on their list before you can get an appointment. Oh, and they limit the number of patients that they'll service, so you have to sign up early so you don't get shut out.

Such a scam.

JA-lite. True concierge is like a 5:1 doc:patient ratio.

What operating costs? You don’t much staff/space when your clientele is 5.

I feel like it's impossible to find a GP that is actually paying attention enough to ask you relevant questions and offer decent diagnosis.
What about just sliding a $20($50/$100?) to your GP or physicians assistant at the end of your visit?
I feel like with the general nature of service industry, of which I include general medical care, you're at least bound to be remembered as tip guy and served appropriately when the same person likely sees maybe 40 people a day.
I have yet to actually try this.

If you think people who truly have concierge medicine are going to the doctors instead of the doctors coming to them, you are not understanding what real concierge medicine is vs a doctors office with a membership fee who calls it “concierge”.
