Via  Stereogum:

There are apparently 75 bands referenced in  this picture (click for larger view):

I found 49 before giving up. I should probably do some work now...

Looks like some of this picture is cut off. Better picture  here, with a Flash magnifying glass.

I got 59 last night, but some I just couldn't figure out.

Here are some I didn't get:

 The guys on the rooftop
The three girls running and holding hands
 The purple building
 The two girls making out
The couple leaning against the street light
 The calendar
 The choir

 Just to name a few

I got some of these:

The guys on the rooftop - The Carpenters
The three girls running and holding hands
The purple building - Deep Purple
The two girls making out - KISS
The couple leaning against the street light
 The calendar - Green Day
 The choir

To be honest, I cheated to get The Carpenters and Deep Purple. I think the choir might be The Manic Street Preachers. Still not sure about the couple and the three girls...

COULD THE CHOIR BE THE POLYPHONIC SPREE? OR DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO BE LITERAL?

Can't believe I missed Green Day, but Deep Purple was a hard one.

That's what I thought too, but apparently it's White Zombie. There are a few that can be interpreted different ways. Like, would the actual streets refer to Pavement or The Streets?

I put The Zombies too, but White Zombie makes more sense. I guess I'm dating myself.

mmhm.

and how about a Ramones reference on the quarter?

i think that you can just interpret a lot of them as two or three bands (ex. Pavement AND The Streets both make sense...).  there are WAY more than 75 bands on that thing...

It's a 50 cent piece so I read it as .50 Cent.

Most of them are literal, rather than referenced.

Stuff like Yelloman, Radiohead, U2, Pet Shop Boys and B-52's are pretty much spelled out.
