so the show was in early 1994?
i remember seeing a lot of kids with weezer shirts in 94/95 [/b]
They opened for Lush when it was WUST and after that show River was giving out stickers that said Weezer. That was too cool and before Undone hit huge.
I think I was at the 2000 show, or the one before it, post Pinkerton/breakdown pre-Green album. Great show too.
Old Club:
Janes Addiction, Nothing Shocking tour. Right when the energy was huge and they rocked big time. The whole club was a mass of bodies moving to the music.
Husker Du, Warehouse tour. All night Bob Mould stared at the camera person. Pure punk, and after the show the bassist was hanging out chatting with people. Thanked him for the great show.
Devo. Yeah a reunion thing, but they blew the place down. All the classics you wanted to hear, done how they should have been done.
The Orb, maybe 94? Right after Live 93 came out, real drummer, real bassist, triphonic sound (brought in two back stacks). Did a great set, and with the real musicians made it all the better.
The Go-Betweens. Australian pop that just never made it over here. THey were great, Alex Chilton opened and we were pissed he kept playing so long...
New Club:
Hard to leave it at 5, but I was at so many of the other shows people listed (Bebel wasn't bad I thought, though I hear the tour improved after that show).
Chemical Brothers, 1999. Bass. More Bass. Most Bass. Great set list, great lights, and for a "techno show" great interaction from the stage to the crowd.
Love and Rockets, Hot Trip to Heaven tour. This was killer, they did that album which is brilliant, their older material, and more bass than even the Chemical Brothers (and this is agreed on by the Monitor guy from the club who was there for both and many other shows). Oh and the Dandy Warhols opened the show.
Gomez, In Our Gun tour (a couple years back). Seen them there 3 times. This show was spot on. They did the songs justice, had a great set, and had energy.
Spiritualized 2003. Yes, this show. I saw them at the black cat (Betty Ford Clinic T-shirt on the bassist), the Ladies and Gentlemen tour at the 9:30, open for Siouxie around Pure Phase, and some other 9:30 show. This one was my favorite. They did a lot of Amazing Grace, an album I love, didn't have all the Bombast that I think was clogging up their set (listen to F**ked up inside if you want to hear how great they were from the start). Sure Jason wasn't jumping like a madman all over the stage, but he did a great set. Didn't really like Phaser opening though.
Sex Pistols, 2003. Yeah they are old farts now, but they did it right, play that album add 2 songs and be done with it. No new crap, nothing off a solo record. And their crew were great, they said it was their favorite tour (Johnny is not that bad I guess).
Almost there, would be Stone Roses when it was still WUST though I think IMP put that one on. Killer 1 1/2 hour set. We left going, that was perfect.
