I think I've previoulsy shared my story about breaking up with a girl at the Nov 2001 Social D show, when she hated the show.  We traded shows that month - she wanted Cowboy Mouth and some other ska like band who always plays with them, I wanted SD.  I even tried to go without her, but she insisted on going.

Anyhow, 3-4 songs into it, she insisted that we leave, SD started playing "Sick Boy" so I jumped in the pit.  She split with my jacket, wallet, and keys to our apartment.  That sucked.

Thankfully, I ran into a few friends who spotted me twenty bucks to get a cab home.  I froze my ass of persuading her to let me back into the apartment too. Whore.  She was out by the end of the week.

Hookups?  I distinctly remember this Irish girl after the Stereophonics acoustic show.  I swear I thought she was at least 21!  Lived in Cleveland park too, right by me.  We knabbed a cab home together after standing in the street for a while, got drinks when we got to CP....

Never really hooked up with anyone I met, but made out with a friend of mine at the Grandaddy show when they played with Dios and Fire Theft. Have had plenty of fun nights at Blowoff.

Wow, she warrants the "C" word, though I'm not gonna use it.  She lived with you?!?!?  Good call getting rid of the bitch...

Question, Smack -- any good shows in San Fran Oct 2, 3, or 4?  I see Snow Patrol's at the Fillmore, but sold out.  Also, I get into Oakland at 9:30, so not sure what I'd make in Saturday -- maybe a late headliner.

Vansmack, breaking up over differences over a show... now that's dedication!  Will the upcoming Social Distortion show bring back memories?

I'm seeing the Libertines Friday night at the Filmore.

I'll be scalping tickets for the Snow Patrol show because I dropped the ball on that one and Smackette is not happy about it.

There's a blue grass festival at Golden Gate park all weekend.  Steve Earle is playing among others, but I'm opting for Baseball.

The New York Dolls are playing Sunday, but I'm still on the fence.

Hot Snakes and the Husbands are playing too.

And when do you go back?  Supergrass is playing an instore at Ameba on Tuesday and at the Filmore that night.  I will be at both.

I get in late Saturday and leave midday Tuesday.  Too early to catch the Amoeba in store....what's a gal to do.  And I think I get in too late to scalp for Snow Patrol.  I did just see them here, though...

I never told you about my Echo & the Bunnymen debacle, did I?  I bought tickets in advance, was there in San Fran, but went to the movies because I got my nights confused.  I was PISSED and went to see Guster at the Warfield so I could see something while I was there...

It's more to the effect of my friends being reminded of the "Swimfan Debacle" (that's what she's affectionately been known as since the break up) and haven't let me hear the end of it.  It's a little different because the show is at Nation this time around, but my friends will be there in full force.  I'm sure I'll get a few calls.

I was so looking forward to that 2001 show - SxDx hadn't played the east coast in a while, I hadn't seen them since I moved back east and nothing, and I mean NOTHING, was going to ruin that show for me.  I needed my OC fix and they brought it, despite the woman trying to keep me down.

I will forever remember the Warfield as the place where I witnessed the hurricane known as Queens of the Stone Age last October (Columbus Day weekend). Easily one of my top 3 favorite shows of all time. It was like watching a black hole caving in...just a whirlwind of sound, light, and energy sucking everyone in and shredding them. Also one of the last shows with Lanegan and Oliveri, sadly. But what an awesmoe spectacle.

Ouch.  I've missed shows because I had the day worng, but never a show I already purchased tickets for.

I'm going to make a push for Snow Patrol tickets before the show.  If I come up with some extras I'll let you know.  Which reminds me - you always seem to have a few extra tickets.  Any chance you bought a group of tickets for Death Cab?

Vansmack, that Social D show was the fucking bomb as well. After the show Charlie (the drummer) gave me his cell phone number because I looked like "a nice kid" and told me he would hook me up for the guest list whenever I needed it! Not only was that an incredible show, but those guys are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet.

Nope, didn't get any tickets for that show -- I saw them last time at they were at the club, and have tickets to see them with Pearl Jam in Reading on Friday (though I'm bagging on that show now - too much traveling this week).  I don't think I know anyone who got tix for the 9:30 show.  I did want to see Pretty Girls again...my bad.

if you're in the Tenderloin district of San Fran check out the Blue Lamp on Geary, it's a true dive with hit-or-miss bands and never more than a one dollar cover.  Doesn't sound appealing I know but there's something delightfully seedy about the ambience (unless they've Yupscaled that area since I was last there.)
