I'll second Murasaki and Kotobuki. I also like Raku in Bethesda alot. I went there last night with a couple Japanese friends and they really liked it. The funny thing though is while I prefer the more traditional stuff, they are more interested in the Americanized stuff, like Philly rolls, since they can't get that in Japan. The one tradtional item we got--sea urchin nigiri--was very good and my Japanese friends agreed. I've been to this place a few times and never had a bad experience. Their non-sushi items are really good too.

I plan on trying Sushi Ko soon...

Though not in DC, I have to give a shout out to Yuraku in Germantown.  Great food at reasonable prices.  Just avoid the lunch buffet.

Yes, yes. Yuraku is great. I go there at least twice a month.

 Do you live in Germantown?

Montgomery Village, but moving up north to the Frederick area in about a month.  Will still head down the road for Yuraku though!

Are you in MoCo as well?

Dangit! I can walk to Tai Shan, but have never tried it and I find out it's great now? A month before I'm moving?!

The move is so I can shack up with my partner.  Gonna have to find a job closer to Frederick, so I don't have to commute to G'burg tho.

Yeah, he's a good guy.  I was thinking that when I was driving home from the Meat Beat Manifesto show the other night and was thankful I didn't have that extra 30 minutes yet.

Oh man, that brings me back. I used to eat there weekly when I was dating a girl from Burtonsville.  Good stuff indeed...

Sushi Ko in DC is very good.

I live about 2 miles from Sushi Sono and go there often. I know alot of people like Sushi King too, and it's good, but usually the people who like Sushi King the best have never been to Sushi Sono  :)

Same owners...I think.  Been to Sushi Sono it was very good but I  like Sushi King better...more laid back atmosphere and great staff.

They're related, but not the same owners.
