really great show last night
edan/dagha was a nice opener ... edan had a lot of tricks up his sleeve like cernoch was saying on the other thread, but he flowed really really well with dagha ... played the first half of velvet underground's "femme fatale", used "strawberry fields forever" at one point, and his finale was a great shoutout to the history of rock music, narrated "subterranean homesick blues" style by dagha flipping through all these old album covers (VU, 13th Floor Elevators, Hendrix, Talking Heads, you name it) as cue cards while edan flowed
looked like edan had a lot of people in the crowd (he grew up in rockville/bethesda), and a lot of those folks didn't stick around the whole night, but the place was pretty full by the end of edan's set
i really didn't know what to expect from prefuse, it kind of reminded me of when i went to see M83 last year ... loved a lot of his recorded stuff, but just didn't know what to expect from the live show (how many people on stage? MC? live instruments?)
anyway, like the M83 show, prefuse really blowed me away ... he played some really heady shit, much more on the IDM/trippy jazz type of side than his hip-hop productions, (edan didn't come out with him) and the live drummer just added so much to the sound ... i have a hard time describing the music because i'm really not that into IDM/electronic/trip-hop stuff, but it was really top-notch, and leagues away from a lot of his hip-hop recordings ... first show i've been to in a while where i wished i had something stronger than bourbon floating around in my system
prefuse came out afterwards and signed our posters, was a really nice guy
