i'm thinking people wont be able to see the stage with all the cellphone cameras there, it's going to be the 9:30 Interpol audience X 4000.  So unless the Sugarplastic, who will be releasing the best album of 2005, are playing I wont be there.

not really.  with the factors that its out in the middle of nowhere....at least a 2 hour drive for virtually everyone, its kinda expensive AND very hot, the "Interpol" crowd probably wont make much the effort to go.

besides, Interpol played there 2 years ago, when i dont even know if they had a video out (i idont know if they do know, though) and the Killers were there last year, well before anyone heard "Mr Brightside"  and Muse before "Time Is Running Out" was on HFS.

the interpol crowd wants to be cool, but they wont fly to the desert to be cool....i mean, its like 104 degrees out there!!! thats not cool.

Exactly...there were not a lot of gothed-out Cure fans walking around the polo grounds this year. They would have melted!  ;)

I think if people go to Coachella, or any festival for that matter, with the intention of seeing only one band, they're better off staying home. It's supposed to be fun!

my point is that as coachella becomes more well-known its going to become an event that people will attend regardless if they like who is performing or not.  so you'll get those bored space taking up fans or worse the mosh to anything crowd...

But that happens at shows of any size. Those casual fans aren't going to become the majority anytime soon.

[/qb]
Now, the question becomes whether they play the Coachella Festival, a revival of the US Festival (for those that are old enough) or if they combine the two. [/QB]
Did anyone else catch Broken Social Scene at last year's Coachella? They had a great US Festival joke in between songs. Maybe about 30 people in the crowd got it the first time. I felt so old. Well I guess I can always watch Bands Reunited.

those bored taking up space fans tend to be the ones who know which bands they want to see, and dont care to see any of the other bands.  not the ones who are there to seek new music.

  Rilo Kiley

"Until then, Lewis and Rilo Kiley have plenty on their plate. "We're going to Europe with Bright Eyes in February, and I think to Japan with them as well," she says. "We'll come back and do another tour -- we're playing Coachella and Bonnaroo."

There's a thread on Velvet Rope about Coachella '05 started by someone who pretty much nailed the 2004 line-up. If he's even 85% accurate, it. will. kick. ass.

Yeah - they should be sticking to those new cutting edge bands like The Pixies, The Cure and U2.
