Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Sorry if this has already been posted. For those interested, tickets seem to have gone on sale this morning at 10:00. Across the boards (including YYY) little was mentioned about it.

i'm serious.
if anyone can make any assumption as to whether they're going to be back soon or not, please give me your input.
there are about five shows i want to go to in that two week period, and i need to pick and choose.  thanks.

I doubt they will do club shows (depending on how the album is received).  Next time they might be at the Patriot Center... or Godforbid, the HFStival.

I would get tickets now. If you don't end up having the time to go, you'll always be able to sell them, since this will likely sell out quick. New song Gold Lion is really good.

Thanks for the heads-up on this. I just bought my ticket via tickets.com. I didn't want to take the chance that it might sell out before I got to the box office.

maybe i'm way off on this, but i feel like YYY's are much more of a media-hyped group (spin magazine are the lead cheerleaders) than they are popular ... unlike, say, interpol ... i know "maps" broke kinda big, but i just feel like they're not as popular as the media wants them to be

like i said, i could be way off on that, just my gut feeling

If the other tour dates are any indicator, this show will sell out quickly. Beyond the media hype, which I frankly don't see as a negative for YYYs, they have plenty of fans all over. It's interesting, though, that you chose to compare them to Interpol. You don't think they were also part of the SPIN/NYC/NME hype machine when they first hit the scene?

As a side note, Nick Zinner's recent photo book is great.

This band is more interested in dressing up in vintage clothing and getting in NYC photo-ops that scream 'forced irony' than actually learning how to write a good song and tour.  So that should answer your question as to if they'll be back anytime soon.

Fuck these art school trustfunded media-hyped posuer pieces of shit.

I'm gonna have to agree, although not as harshly. Definitely more hype than they're worthy of. There were many doing Karen's schtick far better, years even decades prior to her even considering being in a band. That said, she doesw what she does well. Kinda like going to see Rancid and considering it a legitimate punk show.Imitataton is the sincerest form of flattery. My favorite O is Wendy O

are you kidding me?
their songs are brilliant.  Karen is an amazing performer; she puts every ounce of her being into her singing and the music.
 and Nick is horribly talented...

and Brian; he's just cool, 'cause he's jewish.

Yup, I agree too.  I thought of Wendy O the first time I saw them.

Also agree with Hoya, the hype in the "indie" community is bigger than reality.  They played in New York the other night (the Bowery, I think?) and their set was an hour.  And she was doing the indie equivalent of "Hello Cleveland! Are you ready to ROCK???!!!"  Being raucaus and "out there"  for the sake of it. But, that's just me.  I don't get them.  Some songs are good. Some are okay. Some are awful.  But the whole live thing seems like an affectation.

i don't think the media hype is a negative either, and what i said was really just a hunch, i don't have any sales data or anything like that to back this up ... i just feel that YYY's get a disproportianate amount of ink in the press compared to the amount of people who actually listen to them (if you read spin, you know what i mean, all the year end lists had YYYs at the top, multiple cover shoots, Karen O fetishizing, etc) ... whereas, a group like interpol or death cab gets tons of press, but i also feel like a lot of people listen to them .... maybe i just don't hang out with the cool kids who listen to YYY's all the time!

Have the people who are dissing them listened to Fever to Tell? I think that is a very strong album. Good songs, good playing, good production. Her voice can get a little grating, but I think they're going to vary it up a bit with the new album.
