That doesn't count....anyway, you paid to see Moby so what the flying fuck would you know about good shows? [/b]
Moby is a very nice guy who just got slapped with the responsibility of bringing dance music to american mainstream.

and he moved to NYC and now he complains too much, like everyone else there.  but really, hes very cool.

and Placebo is definitely worth seeing.  Bowie too if you have the loot.

It should be much better.  I saw them open for PJ at Nissan (probably the show, or at least the tour, you saw), and I thought it was a tad odd because the seats were so empty and they looked so small on that stage.

I think they will really knock it out at the 9:30 club.

I missed Buzzcocks at Ottobar, but saw them open for Pearl Jam at big venues and they still rocked.  I'm sure they'll blow the roof on Dec 5. [/b]

I love Moby.  I only have "Play" though.  I must read Spin.     ;)

Yep, saw them at Nissan and in Philly.  I was pretty close to the stage both times so it didn't seem to odd, but it will definitely be great at the 930.

I'd go see bowie if the price was right, back in the day i payed 40 and thats with Trent and NIN. I'd say bowie aint worth it if its more than 40 dollars. in fact, i wouldnt pay more than 40 dollars to see a person live. Area one was chargin like 90, not worth it.

Thats what i dont understand about that area 1 crap...no fried chicken money left to spare man, and thats a damn shame. Too much money not enough fried chicken.

this is a few days back but i wanted to comment..

" They normally only play for an hour and play mostly from the current album. I dont like sleeping with ghosts. "

thats not really true. well, seeing as the other times they played america swg hadnt been released yet, but ive seen setlists and have video of shows other then the little "promo tour" that we were given.
when they played this past summer it was definately a bummer. i was totally psyched that the first show in the us in what seemed like eternity was in dc, but i guess that has some disadvantages with it. (ie the travelling so much the night before and not feeling so well once you finally get to your destination spot).
luckily my fiance and i had planned to go to the show in philly the next day and boy oh boy! was it worth it! the set was like the night before only +6+ more songs. even an extra (nicely planned mind you) encore. then again the philly crowd seemed waaaaay more into it.
but... we got the nice oppurtunity to talk to them all at the bar afterwards and pretty much came to the conclusion that while they were switching labels, they had to promote the album to see what it was worth. they promised to come back before the year ended (which they are coming through with) and promised to play more than just swg (which i dont particularly mind anyway).
steve said something like do we really want them playing the songs that they arent feeling at the time anyway.. and where i guess that can be true to a point, i dont really think the prearranged set list would follow under this category nor would he want to play anything off of self titled because he wasnt even in the band yet.
oh well, today is like the first day i have invested in posting and i realize that they are lengthy.
 SORRY!  :)

ok, actually i just read this from a review on the west coast
"but it was the same set list from the sleeping with ghosts tour. so i knew which songs were comming up and stuff. "
which stinks, so sorry. i guess they wont come through with that. i wonder if just shows outside of america get better setlists since they are more widely known. oh well.

 thats not really true. well,
The last time placebo played in DC was at the 930 club and SWG had been out for some time. I didnt go to the show, but from people that did, They played one song from the 1st album and 2 from the second, the bulk of the show was SWG.

Placebo never play much more than an hour.....

What was incorrect about my original statement?

ok, fine fine. everything you said was right.
i was just saying that you were basing it off of one tour, a promotional one for the new label for reception of the american market at that. + the dc show we already know was much shorter than any other show, and all i was saying is that not "usually" they dont only play swg.. just seems that way in america where the fan base is pretty much, well.. nonexistant. too bad i dont think anyone is planning a trip to austria, huh?  ;)
:ps: in philly (just the next night when he felt much better) they played teenage angst, pure morning, taste in men, wyim, special k, slave to the wage, blackeyed, and every me every you. and in dc they actually played taste in men, wyim, pure morning, slave to the wage, blackeyed and special k.
grrrrrrrrrr im tired and there is a ravens home game today and i live 10 blocks from the stadium, sorry if i seem grouchy.

The only one worth seeing is Bowie just to say that you saw him. The rest are a waste of time if not a fan already.  :)

FYI, I just saw the Buzzcocks in Chicago last Friday and it was a terrific show. Lots and lots of classics, and there were about 6 new songs and they were great. A lot of the classic Buzzcocks songs are there...the Chicago crowd was great and we had a fun time. So I wouldn't miss their show on Friday for anything. Should be a blast.
