Modest Mouse East of the Mississippi... finally
« on: December 31, 2003, 01:30:00 pm »
I know it's been years, but finally, Modest Mouse has rediscovered land East of the Mississippi, believed to be inhabited by people that like their music:

 4-Feb Irving Plaza, NYC
 5-Feb Irving Plaza, NYC
 10-Feb Orpheum Tampa, FL
 11-Feb Orpheum Tampa, FL
12-Feb Polish American Club Miami, FL
 13-Feb Social Orlando, FL
 14-Feb Social Orlando, FL
 15-Feb Social Orlando, FL
17-Feb Café Eleven St Augustine, FL
 18-Feb Jack Rabbit's Jacksonville, FL
 20-Feb Beta Bar Tallahassee, FL
 21-Feb Beta Bar Tallahassee, FL

Now, can someone please explain this Florida thing to me?  Please?

(ps-- already bought for the 2/5 show... roadtrip!)

they played at siren this year, so its hasn't been that long, but anywho...i'd think about going if it was during the weekend. why can't they just come to dc or even baltimore?

I'd say be patient. It don't take 5 days to drive a van from NYC to FLA.

yeah, i guess i don't count festival appearances as full-fledged shows.  i mean, it's not like being in a small room filled with people there specifically to see that band, you know?

yeah, i kinda got the jist of what you're saying. also, i'm sorry that he hits you with a full can of coke. that's no joke.

AND if one were on a drive from nyc to say, florida, washington dc would indeed make a nice rest stop for an hour or two. hope the new drummer learned more songs, though

are they big enough for the 930 or would the black cat be more likely?

Depends.  Anyone have the release date of their next album?

No, seriously.  I think they're a bit too big for Black Cat.  I mean, look at them compared to Death Cab...

Well, there's always the gym at UMBC...  :p

Nevertheless, there are options... and they could play Black Cat if they wanted, which is free all but 2/7.  Maybe two dates at Black Cat would satiate?  Perhaps?

ok, so I have a Florida theory.  I think they may just want to be somewhere warm in February.  That's all I can think of.  I mean, NOBODY tours in Florida!  I lived in Miami for half a year and there wasn't a decent show to speak of.  Most folks skip that ugly little state alltogether.

pollstar tells me they are the only band scheduled for the polish american club (???), so i would just chalk it up to everything else about modest mouse that makes no sense: drugs

that and the new shoe smell.  i've always thought it to be somewhat psychotropic.
