Don't know. I am assuming no string section because they hired them specifically for that '06 show. Seems they would have mentioned 'with string section' in their announcement. Then again, I could be wrong.

They are very good and Boris is an incredibly sensitive musician so it will be a good show. Wouldn't be surprised if a couple of the Phaser guys sit in as part of the band. A couple of them were with Boris onstage for the '06 show.

Btw, those albums have been up for download for ages now. For the actual discs, I'm sure they will have plenty tonight at the show for a fair price. I recommend the 1st one if you buy only one. Nice t-shirts too. [/b]
I rather enjoyed this show, although at times it seemed the song styles clashed rather than complemented (Chelsea Diaries vs. eponymous first album). I was also at their 2006 premiere show at Iota, although I got there late. (That show started earlier than I was led to expect, probably due to scheduling for the string section Boris hired for the gig that night.) Jaguar and Joe, did either of you make Saturday's show? FWIW, I didn't see any CDs or T-shirts for sale, unfortunately. (I still need to buy their second album, Chelsea Diaries[/b].)

 Girlfriend In A Coma

Genre: tribute to The Smiths and Morrissey

Girlfriend In A Coma is a celebration of the art created by Morrissey and The Smiths. 20 years after the breakup of one of alternative rockâ??s most influential bands, there is no sign of a reunion from Morrissey and band mates. Girlfriend In A Coma creates an authentic experience for fans that once witnessed the brilliance of The Smiths and for those fans that have been denied the opportunity. To continue paying homage to the bandâ??s front man, Girlfriend In A Coma also performs selections from Morrisseyâ??s solo career.

Where?  I caught Sufrajett at SXSW.  Not impressive on recordings, but I thought they were great live. [/b]
Yowza, great bill, assuming this is RnR Hotel...timing is tricky, but may be worth the acrobatic logistical effort [/b]
Oh fudge, just realized this is the same night as Sia.  boo.

And I noticed that The Bird & The Bee are playing there on the 16th, same night as Ani at the club.  damn conflicts!

ariel pink is this dude who is kind of a recluse and makes lo-fi pop songs. download "alisa" and "for kate i wait" to get an idea of what he does. his live shows, in the past, have been disasters. but that's part of the fun of seeing him live. his records are great if youre looking for a trippier version of early guided by voices.
