It IS super cloyingly annoying.  The worst part is that the actual story is pretty heart-warming.  It's just preceded by about 40 minutes of bullshit "too cool for school" quirky dialog that will no doubt be on t-shirts at a Hot Topic near you soon!
 
 Seriously, it's this year's Napoleon Dynamite.  Plus, it has worse band name dropping than Garden State.  Honestly, how many times can you fit The Stooges and Melvins into one fucking movie?

Here's the thing about "Juno."  It's awful.  Suicide Girl chick flick.   Like the worst Wilco B-side you've ever heard.  But the chick's who are into "Juno?"  Easy.  Real easy.

 I'm wondering how this will differ from the last Twilight tour with Lanegan.  Isn't it pretty much the same band?  I think the drummer is out, but I know Jeff Klein and Scott Ford are involved.

I actually really enjoyed the film.  It was very cute and quirky.  At the same time, I could absolutely see it feeling very contrived and Hot Topic culture-y.  Which was affirmed by the massive amount of Moldy Peaches lyrics that "all of a sudden" started showing up on peoples' away messages in the last couple of weeks.  Or the number of times I have recently seen "The Moldy Peaches" being added to someone's music list on facebook.  The music namedrops were kind of cool at first, but yeah, after they mentioned Sonic Youth for about the fiftieth time it became less subtle, almost to that i'm-trying-way-too-hard-to-make-this-hipster-friendly point.
 
 And on that note, yeah, I will arrive to Crooked Beat early and bat any yuppie poseurs clear out of my sightline.

About Juno:
 I think it is a great movie, very entertaining and clever as well. Who expect to see reality in a Hollywood film?(And this is a Hollywood film, regardless of the "indie" iconography)
 If you expect to see real life drama about teen pregnancy go to any planned parenthood clinic. Its pretty clear that theres a huge difference between  reality and what Juno depicts in terms of teen pregnancy. But then again, I go to the movies to be entertained, not to be reminded of the constant struggle of the common man (and if I want that, Ill see a documentary).

yup, i have. i don't know who else they'd be talking to. the velvet lounge may not have seating, but the sound system is unparalleled for a small club in this region.
 
 i also don't see many people coming to this show, maybe 40-50 at most. this show is right down my alley, and from past experience, something like SotL won't draw more than 50, unless there's some strong local support.
