The one I go to when I don't want to put any effort into thinking or going somewhere? That kind of checks out...
I missed the Port City discourse. But I'm probably biased as the brewery is a block and a half from my house
Port City is the Joe Biden of local breweries.
i have nothing to say about port city. had a few of their beers, found them to be rather pedestrian.
Definitely. Also, the middling, middle of the road one that nobody gets excited about but many seem to buy anyway. Hell it's still clearly better than the billionaire owned breweries. Or something like that.
*Patiently awaits for sweetcell to post about their award winning vienna lager*
that's devil's backbone, not port city.
i have little to say about port city, other than i don't get how they're still in business. their beers fall between boring and pedestrian.
I thought Yada was jokingly mistaking Port City for Devil's Backbone, but anyway...
Totally agree with you on your assessment of Port City and though beer festival awards don't impress me, there's this:
Since its founding (in 2011), Port City has garnered a number of awards, including 11 medals at the Great American Beer Festival, 8 Good Food Awards, and 19 medals at the Virginia Craft Brewers Festival.
They also seem to sell a shit-ton of their witbier to females. At least based on my anecdotal observation in line at Whole Foods.
This article says they are shooting for 50,000 barrels a year, not sure how close they are. And my tax dollars are helping them.
