usually free beer at emos on wednesday.  everything is pretty much over on saturday night.  badges don't guarantee entry after 10pm.  if the venue is at capacity and people are not leaving, you will not get in.  the badge line is shorter, but they don't always get in.

How'd you like to be in Austin today with 20,000 drunk frat boys running amok following the Rose Bowl win?

 Great game, btw.

Thanks -- for Austin City Limits a friend SWEARS by the closing night party on Sunday night.

Also, I'm thinking Sunday may be a zoo at the airport, but is that worth another $200/night hotel room?

 Thanks for the advice!!
DO NOT choose Thurs-Mon.

You'd be skipping one of the true festival nights for a night of nothing.

Wed & Thurs nights are my two preferred nights there. They are MUCH less crowded - you can move around easier - and see a lot of lesser hyped bands: I 'discovered' 2 of my favorite bands today on a Wednesday night @ SXSW.

I've never found Sunday travel home to be very difficult.

I'm going in Thursday a.m. and leaving Sunday.  It's what the rest of my crew is doing, so makes ense...I cansee that Wed would be the best night.  At N.O. Jazzfest, Thursday of the long weekend is always the best day.  They call it "Locals Day"...

I can't believe this...it's so sad.  My SXSW wristband connection's wife died (and the wife is the sister of my friend here who I would have asked to hook me up, so now I really can't even ask).

Does anyone know a way I can get wristbands?!?  I'm willing to throw a delivery and 'processing' fee on there...!!

 Thanks

You're not asking "where" but "who" right? Since from what I can tell it's basically Waterloo...Just knowing someone to get you one is the issue?.
I'll ask a couple of people if they can help you out.
Check out www.donewaiting.com or the SXSW message board to see if anyone can help you out.

Yup, it's just who.  I didn't know they were only available on place, but I did know they're only available in Austin (in person).

 Thanks

Bags, I have some links for you:

 http://southbywristbands.com/
 http://www.austinchronicle.com/
"You can buy SXSW wristbands in-person at Waterloo Records beginning in mid-February. Details will be announced in the Austin Chronicle."

In addition to Waterloo, I think the Convention Center and one place in Austin (name escapes me) sell them too.
Unfortunately the hotel/wristband option sold out.
