Brian, c'mon and admit it. You don't really like FOB, do you? You're just trying to geta rise out of us.
No, I honestly don't understand why anybody hates them. I can understand why someone would hate U2, Radiohead, The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, Smashing Pumpkins, The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, The Arcade Fire, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Bruce Springsteen, The Clash, ANY classic rock.
But Fall Out Boy? They're young, their music is fresh and as innovative as a band can be in 2007. They have great lyrics and really speak to a lot of young people. They're almost inspirational. I'll put "This Ain't A Scene" up against ANY single released in 2007. It's that good.
Plus, I'll put my money where my mouth is. Even though some "rock critics" are just as bad as you people AND the track record of The Village Voice's Pazz and Jop pole is dire. (Think of all the great albums that have been made in the last ten years. And accept the stupefying fact that Cadillac spokesman Bob Dylan got "Album of the Year" in three of those years. Old, worthless baby boomer hippies should die right now.)
I bet that "Infinity on High" makes the 2007 Pazz and Jop album list and "This Ain't A Scene" makes the singles list. You can't have "evidence" in rock and roll but at least that would prove that other people, some even respected writers who are PAID to critique rock music (as opposed to sad, trolls who think holding court on the 9:30 club message board makes them "rock critics" just the same) actually like Fall Out Boy, too. I think they'll even rank higher than...oh...I don't know..."Zeitgeist" and "Tarantula."
It's petty but I think you're all in the dark about this. Not only is Fall Out Boy popular, they are (somewhat) critically acclaimed.
I'm also sure the band is really bothered by everybody on the 9:30 club message board hating them. You can all go back to masturbating over Gogol Bordello and Peter, John and Bjorn and hoping Santa puts a direct drive turntable under your Christmas tree.
