I think someone else already named their dog that though  ;)  hehe

there are four cats in my family.  one, which i adopted from a local org i had volunteered for, and three strays:

sam - gray shorthair; found him behind the condos near the retention pond in 2002

inka dinka do - black & white shorthair feral rescued as a kitten, still skittish as hell; org i was w/ was going through an ugly "divorce," and everyone was ready to give up on him

half-tail - orange & white short/med hair; came to the back patio bloody & scrounging for food; he wasn't neutered, and the vet doesn't think he'd ever had a home (half-tail is a bit of a misnomer as he really only has a third of a tail)

maddy - brown tabby med/longhair.  the only female. wayyyy too needy

unfortunately, none live with me right now (roommate's leather couches are far too precious!), but the plan is that i'll take half-tail once i move.

2 cats, both black and white

cat 1- female named Cooper.  got her as a kitten from a cat my mom took in.  will turn 4 in July.

cat 2- male named Winky.  has one eye (we didn't name him) and got him from a rescue organization.  will turn 2 in June.

originally had Cooper's brother, but we had to put him down when he came down with feline leukemia; his name was Monty.

my cat, a gray and white shorthair, had a breathing impediment due to scarring of upper respiratory system.  when she got excited, it sounded like she was snoring.  it would freak out some people to have such a loud grumbling noise come from such a small animal.  her name was La Wheeze - she came with that name.  someone rescued her off the street, she knew that she owed her survival to humans and acted accordingly.  pure love, she was the bestest cat ever for so many reasons - including the fact that at night, she'd demand to be let under the blanket and would curl up in a ball at the foot of the bed.  you cannot underestimate the value of a foot-warmer like her in the middle of a canadian winter.

Current cats: Mary, Bob and Coco

 Recently departed: Kevin, Frodo

We're a cat family. I'm quite sure we'll be taking in a couple more, especially as Mary is 18 years old and appears close to ready to depart this mortal coil. Frodo and Kevin were both 15+ y.o. and they were both huge losses.

Most common dog names I've come across now that I walk a dog, in descending order:

 - Max
 - Jack
 - Murphy (which was #1 on my list originally, for Chris Murphy of course.  Sloan was on there too)
 - Abby
 - Bailey

Mine is a poodle/terrier mix I named Finnegan.  Finn for short, though I'm pretty sure people in the neighborhood think his name is "Vinny" since I'm always calling him Finny while out walking.
"Finn" is a good, short name you can shout and get attention in a pinch/emergency/bad behavior moment (though those are far and few between with Finny!).

And, there's a labradoodle puppy in the building next door -- oh my gosh what a beautiful, peppy, friendly dog!!!  [I adopted so couldn't be too specific about breed; would have gotten a Glen of Imaal Terrier, maybe a Westie.]
