I really did like them at first when they came out.  The music was eclectic and a lot different than other music at the time.  However, in recent years, I do have to agree that they've been overblown.  The music has began to sound all the same, and they don't have the the same energy and pop that they had ten years ago.  Hopefully the new producer will do something.  I still take my wife to the concerts though...she loves them, and she goes to shows with me when she doesn't like the music.  However, I have to disagree with the fratboy comments.  I now have been to many DMB shows, and rather than the fratboy contingent, it is more the sorority chicks, and hippie chicks in general.  It's like DMB gets the Phish overflow.

I thought about it once or twice, but I hear enough Stereophonics to keep the razorblades in the cupboard.  They ain't Dave, but who is?

There a nice bunch of guys, Dave's daughters are extra cute, but his caterer is a little on the wacko side (I protected their water bottles). But the fans at every sold out concert seem to really like their music.

So to all the U.Va. students out there that refuse to listen to George Michael, the late Freddie Mercury, Elton John, etc. ... next time you blast the latest Dave Matthews CD out your car window, keep in mind he is bisexual.

I didn't know someone's sexual preference was a good assessment of their musical talent.  I'll have to add that to my list when examining what music I should check out.

Is there a web site I can go to and find all of the bi male singers?

"I'm a dirty rascal...I'm the king of the castle"

"Hike up your skirt a little more and show the world to me."

Along with that "your body is a wonderland" song, these are some of the dumbest lyric nuggets I've ever heard.  God only knows what lyrical treasures are hidden in the DMB catalog.

An ex gf of mine tended bar at the Floodzone in Richmond about 15 years ago..DMB had a weekly or monthly gig there she had the pleasure to work.  She hated those nights.  Who woulda thought they'd become international superstars?  When I think of DMB I see Coors Light, backwards baseball hats, and intolerant frat boys.  Not my scene at all.

I hate to admit to knowing this (it's my wife's fault), but "Your Body is a Wonderland" is a John Mayer song, not Dave Matthews. Though perhaps you weren't implying it was Dave, now that I reread your post.

Any DMB fan would be hard pressed to say that the band's music over the last few years had the same luster of their early work. I suspect that Dave's alcohol problems played a big part in the stagnation of the band's sound. However, it's also hard to deny the merits of their early albums (Remember Two Things through Before These Crowded Streets) along with some of their live material (Luther College and Red Rocks especially). Their music had incredible musicianship combined with some very accessible and catchy songs. Considering what music DMB was competing with in the mid-90's (metal/industrial, the waning days of Seattle rock, the coming days of boy bands and nu-metal), they really did have a good, unique sound. All in all, there have been a lot worse bands to hit the top of the charts.

With that said, "Everyday" was a stinking pile of turd. I'm hoping for better things out of them with their new album, but I'll probably wait a bit before putting down any money on it.

I totally agree with that, the early stuff is amazing, whereas lately they havent been on top of their game, as it were.  Ive heard some stuff from the new album however, and it sounds pretty damn good, i dunno.  That being said, whats everybodys opinion on other jam bands? Any phish love? allmans? bela fleck?

The Jam was an excellent band; Style Council not so excellent.
