but if a smooth operator like smackie gets shot down before even taking off, what hope does that leave for the rest of us regular folk?!?  i'm devastated.

personally, my time is very limited when i'm on business trips so having the hook-up all taken care of before even making to the hotel is a huge plus.

 sheesh, i wish

i bet that being flooded with all the other playaz' chat requests might have had something to do with it...

Engaget has a review of the in-flight entertainment system  here.  sounds like they got everything to work (then again they had a tech support team on-board, and this was a promo flight for journalists so no surprise that everything worked great...)

There were plenty of paper products and the TP was average - not soft, but not sandpaper either.  The tissues were soft though -  I recommend using those.

The return flight is going much better.  the very attractive Lynnzee is assuring me that this fligt will go much better than my first flight, and thus far she is correct.  she even turned on my in-flight entertainment system while we wait so i can check it out.

thousands of songs and a playlist feature so you can set a bunch up and leave it alone.  you can even mix videos and songs, but theres only about 20 videos (but they had kelly clarkson and gwen stefani so i am happy).

one interesting thing is that the cup holder that i liked is now gone.  that and it seems like half the plane has their sunglasses on depite being indoors at 11 am on a saturday.  Ahh, LA.

One other cool thing: the inflight entertainment system can be used during takeoff and landing.  That provided an extra half hour or so of of entertainment where normally there would be deadtime.

the return flight had everything, including the food ordering system and the satellite Tv, but they hadn't added Setanta yet, so there was no football watching, but I've read that its coming.

Lots of other airlines including AirTran and United will sell you an exit row seat for a slight extra charge; you can get the exit row without the extra charge if you have frequent flier status with that airline. So don't expect the free exit row seat to be available once Virgin has some frequent fliers in its ranks.

ive flown virgin atlantic and loved it. it was back when they had a $99 dollar one way, 99 pounds the other way round trip flight from NY to London and back. i ran into roger taylor of queen at the airport in london too as he was checking in.
the music videos shown inflight were awesome.
