Long time fan here...saw Wolf Parade at Black Cat in DC on Sunday. My fourth time seeing them. They were great as expected and as always, but I have this nagging feeling that the band should be playing longer shows now that they're on their fourth album.
The new album is excellent live (except for King of Piss and Paper, maybe their worst track), but they only played one Expo 86 song and six Apologies songs. They have so many great live tracks, it is a shame that so many getting buried now (Ghost Pressure, Animal In Your Care, for example). If that means charging slightly more for tickets, so be it.
And what's up with them playing Black Cat? BC is a great venue but they couldn't sell out 9:30? I think they could have. Good for Dante for scoring Wolf Parade.
Overall highlights--
Loved Fancy Claps, maybe their best live song
Love the regular return of Modern World
Didn't see them play Kissing the Beehive in NYC 16 so that was great
This Hearts on Fire is still $
Favorite new songs live--
Artificial Life
Baby blue
Am I an Alien
Weaponized
Flies on the Sun
