this was a very unique show.... great band... anyone notice that the butthole surfers( the singer and guitar player) cudnt really think of this stuff on the spot.... this suprisingly wasnt well rehearsed.... the old farts kept looking at the setlist cus they didnt know wat song was next. i was upfront and 1 point the singer laughed at the guitar player beacuse he played the wrong part to the wrong song. and the singer had the lyrics written on paper next to him.... Im guessing its cus they prolly havent played most of this stuff since they 80s..... I thought those kids took away from the show... I'm sure no one paid to see those kids and its dumb its with the headlinig act.... i was watching those kids backstage and it looked like they were sleeping thru butthole surfers songs... or making out.... suprisingly the only fuck up from the kids was when the girl on drums forgot to go in on the drums.... but they made it looked like paul fucked up.... they all did pretty good tho... that was prolly the worst ending ive seen in a show.... it completly killed the chance of being an encore pepper...if it goes on like this it will probly start a riot...i thought the movie screen was pretty cool but the only thing i noticed that stood was when those old nfl back guys were riding motor cycles pretty funny with the song they played....and it was mostly black ppl or asian ppl too

Good show in Philly, for anyone that cares.  I somehow didn't find the School of Rock kids that disruptive to the entire Butthole Surfers experience.  Gibby mumbled through a lot of songs, forgot the lyrics on some, and seemed to make up entirely new lyrics for others, even though he had lyric sheets for everything.  Same set list as the other shows.   Or really close anyway.  Great mix of songs, although some were a bit altered or shortened.

I'm sorry to say that I missed him.  We figured he would certainly be playing after Sound of Urchin.  He wasn't.  We walked in as he walked off.
But Dean Ween was in the audience!  Went up and bought a ticket like anyone else and walked right through the front doors.

That's pretty rad.  When Gibby played with the SOR kids at the RNR Hotel, Dave Dreiwitz was in the crowd.

No joke...since high school, I've probably attended more shows with him in the crowd than with my own friends.  Of course, that may be due to the fact that I'm not as popular as I think I am...   :(

let's turn this into a "at what shows have you seen ian mackaye with?"  I'll start:

 X
 The Slits
Black Flag West Memphis 3 Benefit
 Sleater-Kinney

there's definitely some more but that's right off the bat.

Weirdest?  The Two main guys from the Go-Betweens did an acoustic duo show, Guy and Ian were there.

I've been to a few of the shows mentioned above, but I have no idea what he looks like these days.  I just always think he's still bald and young looking.
