box seating at Wolf Trap?
« on: May 05, 2008, 01:38:00 am »
I've landed seats in one of the "box" seating areas at Wolf Trap for the Black Crowes.  Anyone know what that's like?  I seem to recall there being two levels at the Filene Center, are the boxes up on the 2nd level?  About how many seats in one section?

The box seating at the Trap is the first section of the balcony (behind that is the loge).  The boxes are split up into 6 or 8 seats (3 in front, 3 in back). Usually the center boxes are put aside for donors/corporations, so the ones that go on sale to the public are the ones off to the side.  However, sometimes the center seats get turned back into the for sale pool and can be bought on tickets.com.

Anyways, they're good seats.  I've sat up there several times and enjoy it.  I am one of those people, however, who think that there isn't a bad seat in the whole house (or lawn).

i wonder how many people at this show will realize that wolf trap is a national park and smoking pot at this black crowes show could land you in some serious trouble.

Thanks for the responses.  I'm in box 30 and got seats 5-8 so apparently it's 8 seats across.  It's fairly close to the center, but it's 3 boxes back from the edge of the balcony apparently.  Still, should be good sightline.  As for it selling out, it seems there are no 2 seats together in the front orchestra area anymore, and it's only been on sale for 3 days.

wolf traps byob/wine/liq policy is beyond wonderful.  i had a couple friends who worked there over the span of a few summers and they said they have tons of undercover cops in the crowd during "these" types of shows..

Only time I've been to Wolf trap before is for the Cranberries in 2002.  We were yelled at and glared at throughout the entire set for standing and attempting to rock out a bit.  Dolores actually told the audience a few times that it was OK to stand up and enjoy themselves, but no, these stodgy Wolf Trappers would have none of it.
