Motor City Music Conference
« on: March 17, 2005, 11:13:00 am »
Well it's no SXSW, but I can drive there and got a free place to stay...
 Dates  April 20-24

 Just the facts

So besides the obvious, Westerberg, Detroit Cobras, Paybacks, Trail..., Dirtbombs, The Hentchmen, The Black Keys, etc

Is there anyone else worth seeing in the intial list of acts  announced?
T.Rex

I would love to see Judah Johnson.
(They are a band, not a person.)
Kind of mellowish Indie and not at all the typical Motor City sound.

The Singles are a Rainbow Quartz band who are pretty young but know their very, very early Psychedelic rocking roots. Not a Psyche band, per se, though. Had a great conversation with one of them about the Flamin' Groovies. A little early Brit Invasion sound ala Detroit with kind of a Buddy Hollyesque influence.

Mike Shupp is a local guy, for us. Not bad but wouldn't go out of my way for him. Better than I expected before hand. I've seen him at Iota. Kind of a local acoustic guy who got an electric band together sort of sound, if that makes any sense whatsoever.

Have heard several more but don't know or remember anything about them let alone suggest them. Then there were a couple that I would just avoid, some whom are popular amongst other boardies but not liked by me.
