Don't EVER say a manc looks like a scouser! (he probably heard the comment and that set him off)

i tried to find a picture of a north-sider with gelled down hair, an 80s track suit, and trainers, but couldn't quite track it down.  damn the internet.

anyway, those people don't take too kindly to being called knackers, i thought it was more of a funny thing, not like calling someone white trash or anything ...

yes, none really liked being called a knacker and knackers definitely don't like being called knackers! - one of those 'the truth hurts kinda things'

I hope learning not to call people knackers wasn't too painful a lesson for you - I have this mental image of you getting the shit kicked out of you in the middle of O'Connell Street

i was actually in one of those enormous lines at an atm in temple bar (across from the quays pub i think), some greasy drunk fucks overheard the coversation my friends and i were having and started heckling us about being american, talking about jerry springer and chanting "jerry! jerry! jerry!" and shit in our faces ...

i thought it was pretty funny, and i said "at least i'm not a fucking knacker" ... that obviously didn't go over too well ... they got all pissy but they weren't about to do anything about it, they were 19 or something, just a couple of pricks ... i had just learned the word earlier and i really didn't know 'knacker' would set them off ...

and yes, sonick and tee, i can stand up for myself when i'm not outnumbered and outmuscled.

Well now.....that's opened a whole new discussion hasn't it?

The answer to your question is yes, and no!!!!

A 'Manc' is simply someone from Manchester, which, depending on which other part of Britain a person is from, is indeed the same as a knacker. Personally, I'd say a 'manc' is more of a 'langer' than a 'knacker'

A scouse is closer to a knacker than a manc.

Is a Nigerian who recently moved to Dublin a
 "Dub Dubh"?  ;)

How about a chinese american......"noodle doodle"?

BTW...anyone seen the video for the chart topping song in UK at the moment?   Classic, absolutely fucking classic!

well a tad more digging and i'm guess it's the Armadillo vid with loads of celebs in it, although i can't be arsed to find the full length version.  so did you buy the ringtone for it yet?

That's it! Make the effort to watch the whole thing....although you might have to be from over here to realize who a lot of the celebs are. Ken and Dierdre Barlow from Corrie, Michael Parkinson - interviewer. Peter Kay, comedian. He's the one miming the song. Of course, you'll recognize Shaun Ryder and Bez. It was done for the comic relief charity so all for a good cause.

Those ringtone ads are out of control....in all the papers, on MTV, The Box and other teenage-focused channels. The frog and cute little chic are especially annoying.

the clip i saw was the fit with the corrie stars...

i finally had to give up corrie... i was getting tapes from my mother who was recording it off the cbc.  but i got hopelessly behind in watching it, then my mother would miss a week here and there.  and unlike an doodle soap a lot can happen in four episodes of corrie. so corrie is no more, it was fun growing up with character for years but no more   :(

kinda of wish there was a huge ondemand service for corrie..

mentioned the ringtones only because it was always there while searching the song out.  hard to believe artists, read record companies,  are making more ringtones than the actual song.  very sad...
