Anyone know if it's still possible to sign up for U2.com and get in on the presale?

i would advise against it. it only allows you to get 2 tickets to any one show in a calendar year. not worth it.

You'll have to ask Venerable.  The only show I've seen at the Arena's out here is Britney at Oakland Coliseum and it's a lip synch show so it's impossible to guage sound quality. [/b]
i'm not much help either.  by the time HP (fka compaq center) was finished, i was in texas.  i've seen 2 shows at the oakland coliseum which wasn't bad.  and i saw u2 in sacto. . .so. . sorry.

I'd better not be with tickets costing up to $160

I'm missing something. What happened to the DC date?

Looks like DC (along with all of the South and mid-Atlantic) has to wait until the fall leg.
