Sounds as if Farrar is as loveable as Tweedy.

seeing this made me check out the latest news, turns out the ever lovable Jay Farrar will be the only original member, that reunion did not last long, but the drummer from canyon is now in Son Volt [/b]

If I could make it out, Experimental Aircraft would probably be my top priority. I love that band!

Thanks for the info - I will need to see The Jicks if I head down there...

Not on the list but a band that is working on getting there, and very highly recommended by me, is A Northern Chorus.

i went last year and i'm going this year.  i'm getting a wristband.  i paid $120 for it at the door of a venue and it was worth it.  cover to shows is $10-$20 and i bounced back and forth a lot.  the industry people with badges get in first, then wristbands, then everyone else.  if you don't have a wristband you won't get to see any of the indie bands.  last year you could only get your wristbands online if you booked one of the official hotels.  i'm getting there wednesday and buying a wristband from a venue like i did last year.  they also have a bunch of unofficial shows during the day.  emo's set up a tent across the street that had some good bands and free beer.  if there are any record stores left in austin, i'm sure they'll host stuff.  it's a really good time.  i hope to see some dc people there!
