Actually, I'm quite comfortable and the a/c is still not on. Besides, I thrive at night! July nights are my absolute favorite time of year. What about you? Why are you still here?    :D

I hear ya Jag.

I'm sitting on my roof, drinking a High Life, watching the much needed fog roll in off the Pacific Ocean to cool things down a bit (currently 63 degrees), listening to Nick Hornby's 31 Songs on my laptop and I remembered I'm 3 songs short of the complete collection.  Who better to ask then this lot to fill a music collection?

I figured I'd post tonight so by the time I got in to the office tomorrow morning maybe I'd have the full collection.  Turns out the night owls are still talking energy.

And for the record, I will not be at the show, much to my dismay.  But Cedars fans are in for a treat - we just listened to their new EP and it was given two enthusiastic thumbs up by Smackette, the judge of all things to soon be on The OC!

It's 73 delicious degrees here, which is much more preferable for me, with a few nice breezes. Your roof sounds nice. I've got a nice bird sanctuary out my window with all kinds of nice trees and a stream, though I can't see them now.

For the record, I have no freaking clue what Lyndon Larouche said.

Hope everyone enjoys the show! Wish I could go.

I'm so not getting involved.  That's between you and venerable. I just wanted to know why I couldn't hear the new Cedars tracks.  And then I was bored so I instigated a little.

And your stream sounds lovely as well.

 EDIT: and looks even better!

How very Hezbollah of you, but you forget, we invented the Clandestine meth laboratory in California.  If anything, you're cutting into our business - we'll round our dealers up as allies, send them in first and start an underground drug war to weaken your defenses.

Surrender, or we'll give you over to San Bernardino and Riverside when we're done with you.

Sorry it's so hot.  You should head down here for a visit.

Bless you smackie!! If we ever make it to the Bait Shop i'll get you an invite...Mini-Cooper doesn't stand a chance...and I have to say that after seeing that clown Cisco Adler score Misha Barton I have renewed hope on one day scoring Rachel Bilson on the re-bound or Olivia Wylde post-divorce...

When we played with Lake Trout last December they did a very good set..they did a Kid A cover which was a really nice treat...

Yeah, from your end, I can fully understand that and I pretty much agree with you.

In part, my anger towards the oil industry and other issues was coming out too but I was trying to stay on topic. Oh, and I just read yesterday that tax cuts for hybrid cars (or some of them) will be cut in half. So much for you know who doing anything about encouraging us to conserve. [/b]
nothing we were talking about yesterday had anything to do with the oil industry. . .

this has nothing to do with "you know who" ending cuts on hybrids. . .i mean, california (and virginia too, for that matter) is no longer giving out carpool lane exemptions to hybrids because there are simply so many of them out there now, that such incentives aren't needed (not to mention that funding is running out).

bags, trust me, like this should be any surprise, i am just as upset about how people are moving from NIMBY to BANANA (build absolutely nothing anywhere near anything), but yes, i would like to keep my 2 refrigerators, big screen tv, extra large washer and dryer and run my AC 24 hours a day. . .new england and california are the worst in that regards.  it annoys me that now that wind is becoming economically viable, environmentalists (and the new england elite) are coming out against it.  lots of things about this industry annoy me, and in large part it's because of what you stated. . .people complain about not wanting new transmission or generation, but. . oh, yes, i definately want to increase my usage. . .utility company, you'll still be able to keep my power on, right.

i think that's more what i was upset with yesterday, and taking it out on jag.  a sheer lack of understanding about the electricity industry in general.

Would it be considered ironic if there was a power failure at the editors show???

trying to slowly steer the thread back to it's original intention...

Hey, ditto.  I am no martyr or model for conservation.  That said, they can put a pipeline through my backyard.  Is it optimum? For me personally, no.  Do I understand it needs to be done?  Yes.

 Now, what about them Editors??

Actually, I think this heatwave may be one of the reasons I can't go -- too much work right now.

Notice that I said:

"In part, my anger towards the oil industry and other issues was coming out too but I was trying to stay on topic."

This helps to explain my mistrust and anger towards some of those in control and why I couldn't help but wonder. Again, I did not try to claim that it was a fact, only a suspicion. If you have a problem with that, too bad. No matter how hard I tried to lighten the mood you kept hitting at me.       ;)

Solid show, if not quite the spectacular one we hoped for, I think. I was hanging with Tom Servo right before the Editors set and we each remarked as to how amazing the Editors were when they opened for Stellastarr* back in late March and how our expectations were now quite high for this show as a result. I think I replied that there's no way the Editors can live up to our expectations and they didn't. For me anyway. I didn't get a chance to talk to Tom Servo after the show. Besides expectations being too high, the longer set may have diluted some of the Editors best stuff a little as well. Anyway, it was still an excellent show and a lot of fun. I got the impression that the audience was a little sluggish, but I was up so close to the stage that it didn't affect my enjoyment any.

Lake Trout definitely kept my interest. For the most part, I probably enjoyed their instrumentals more than their songs with vocal arrangements actually. The only notable exception being the last song they played, which was pretty darn spectacular. I was impressed by their guitarist on the lefthand side of the stage in particular.

Cedars were excellent. Best opening band on a three-band club bill I've seen in over a year. Good job, Fico. I'd like to hear a little more variety in your songs, I think, but otherwise an impressive outing. Bought the $5 CD after the show.
