I'm going...got on the guest list, hard to say no. I'm intrigued about all 3 bands, I like Phoenix a lot and DDIHC has some good tunes. See you there, I'll probably be wearing a Pixies baseball cap  :)

WOW...what a great show! I've got to say that Long-view was superb. Very polished, nice harmonies, great songs. DDIHC were fun, probably my least favorite of the night but they were still cool. Phoenix were solid all around. Some songs i liked more than others, but on the whole they looked pleasantly surprised by the good turnout and the enthusiastic crowd. Their drummer had a shit-eating grin the whole time! I'd go see them again though...and by the way, pretty ballsy to open up with "Too Young"!

Waiting patiently to finally see Phoenix live paid off.  Have been a fan since their debut release "United" with it's all over the map song stylings.  Alphabet was a bit of let down, because it lacked the umph of the first.  But add in a real drummer and crank up the guitars and the stuff had new life in concert.  "I'm An Actor" and "Run Run Run" both better live.  And opening with "Too Young" was unexpected but a great way to start the set.

As is the case when I'm DJing the couldn't really focused on the first two acts.  DDIHC had a better live sound this time around, the female's vocals and keyboards were buried in the mix like last time.  They were good, but nothing I'd go outta of my to see again, unlike Phoenix.  I believe Long-View were from Manchester, but didn't really do much more for me.

 My Setlist

XTC - "Funk Pop A Roll"
 Prefab Sprout - "Appetite"
 Delgados - "Everybody Come Down"
The Dears - "Lost In The Plot"
 The Sugarplastic - "The Runaround"
The High Dials - "Fields in Glass (Stained Glass Remix)"
De Novo Dahl - "Wanna Beer Man?"
House of Love - "Don't Know Why I Love You"
 Dexy's Midnight Runners - "Gino"
Paul Weller - "Don't Make Promises"

 Long-View

 Primal Scream - "JU-87" (dub)
 LCD Soundsystem - "Disco Infiltrator"
 Inner City - "Good Life"
Innerzone Orchestra - "Bug in the Bassbin"
Avatars of Dub - "Sex Elevator Musik (Thievery Corp remix)"
 DJ Rolando - "Jaguar"

 DDHIC

Insprial Carpet - "This Is How It Feels"
Delays - "Lost in a Melody"
 Aberfeldy - "Heliopolis By Night"
 Cartel - "Fleets"
Kitchens of Distinction - "Don't Drive That Fast"
 Love - "Alone Again Or"
Sly & The Family Stone - "Family Affair"
Funk Brothes - "Papa Was A Rolling Stone (instrumental)"

 Phoenix

Blake Baxter - "Brothers Gonna Work It Out"
Isley Brothers - "Fight the Power"
Jean Jacques Perry - "E.V.A. (Fatboy Slim Remix)

great concert, i agree with the above reviews for the most part.

not only was the girl hard to hear during DDIHC, but the lead guitar was drowned out by vocals, something  that rarely happens.  that singer was impressive though.

I was very happy with Phoenix, as I wasnt the biggest fan after I heard their last album, but the tunes live made a huge difference.

I met a girl named Ena from Germany last night...then lost her...I'm pissed now

What a fun night of music. I'm too tired to write a proper review, but I thoroughly enjoyed all three bands -for different reasons. Long-view's singer had a great voice and their tunes were absorbing. Dogs Die in Hot Cars were fun and energetic and delightful. (I'm mad at myself for missing them the first time they came. Will definitely see them again.) And Phoenix had an energy and showmanship that wowed the crowd. Very tight performance that sucked you in. Groovy, entertaining tunes. All three bands were clearly enjoying themselves on stage and were very happy to see such a large crowd. I'm glad I took a chance (since I'd never heard the bands) and went!

A question: Were any of you guys (as in one guy) right in front with your girlfriend and wearing a blue/black wide-striped polo shirt? Just curious because I've seen you two at every show I've been to recently and am wondering if you're on the Forum.

Nice to see some other Forum members at the show! We're due for another Forum Gathering.

well, like kurosawa, im way too tired to really write much. i loved longview's music prior to the show, and rob's voice was sounding really great. was pleasantly surprised when they opened with 'when you sleep' and playing 'further' last was a great way to end the set. (aside from the fact i cant get the song outta my head). i loved the energy that ddihc had, especially the lead singer. didn't know a single song, but was a fun band and would see them again in a heartbeat. besides, the lead singer was adorable   :D  and phoenix, agree completely with what everyone said. loved the drummer, and i dont think he could have been any happier   :D

btw, bunnyman... what was your friend's user name on here.. i forgot it already! and it was nice to meet some of you from here..

oh yeah..was quite nice to hear house of love, kosmo!

Phoenix was just awesome last night.  Their drummer is the French ?uestlove.

 Long-View = Switchfoot
DDIHC = A crappy version of Talking Heads

Nice set last night Kosmo.  Loved the Cartel.  Cheers.
