this 930 lovefest is getting nausiating..

You misspelled "nauseating." And I'm not a big SK fan, wasn't at the show, and don't post here very much. But it's not nauseating -- it's a tribute to the professionalism of the staff. The 930 may be the best club in the country. It's my favorite place to see live music, ever.

We're lucky to have it, we're lucky that they have staff of the caliber that they do, and it's not nauseating to say so.

Things would be a whole lot worse for the SK fans if the show had been at another venue. I have the highest regard for the club and the people who work there. They could act like assholes, but they never do.

I don't know if this helps your particular situation or not, but I called the Box Office earlier today and the person who answered told me that if you ordered online you could bring either your confirmation e-mail or the 'receipt' ticket that has your name and address on it, ALONG WITH your photo ID and you can get in.  (Might want to bring everything you have just to be safe.)

We get free schwag based on how much ass we kiss.  At the end of July, my sycophancy score was 43.  Once I gush it up to 50, they send me a coupon for a free draft or rail drink.

This is not the case. If you are unfortunate enough to have lost your ticket stub, none of the above will guarantee you entry tomorrow night. Only the ticket stub is a promise of entry. If you lost your stub and bring your printed confirmation from Tickets.com we will see what can be done, but can't promise you anything.

Really? I mean is that the world we live in now? You have to give people credit for not doing things they aren't supposed to do to begin with?

This is why my eight-year old and I can't see eye to eye on so many things. It's because he thinks that rather than being upset with him for not making his bed I should just be happy that he didn't color on the wall. [/b]
Its like that Chris Rock video where he talks about giving people credit for s*** they are supposed to do but often people don't so my expectations are low.

I appreciate the club and the band doing everything reasonably possible to correct a bad situation caused by a power company's bad transformer. Normally a show would be rescheduled weeks or months later even cancelled. The club is using another power source even though its probably the power companys responsibilty to fix the problem.

S-K had planned not to play another show outside of Portland after friday so they are playing tomorrow and have somehow have found a way to get their gear 700 miles to chicago the next day.

People who throw away their ticket stubs need to be a little more careful. I have been going to shows for years and always keep my ticket stub because you never know what could happen.

I got a call from Tickets.com about the reschedule, too. Amazing.

Regarding my earlier remark about crediting the crowd for not doing anything stupid, I say consider the situation:

   It was hot as hell.

   The show was sold out.

S-K is calling it quits and a lot of us knew their last shows are scheduled for next week. So we realized there might not be another show, ever.

The announcement to evacuate came just as the crowd was expecting S-K to go on stage. Passions were high. And a few drunks and twits were trying to incite the crowd.

So I still say it was pretty impressive that people generally kept their cool. And what's wrong with praising good behavior, Mom?

I'm one of those people who flew in for the show (from Calgary) and now I'm back home.  I still have my ticket stub for the show.  Any shot at a refund?

I always praise good behavior in an emotionally charged situation.  The club was under no obligation to reschedule -- they could have kept our money and said tough luck.  The band was under no obligation -- playing tomorrow means doing three shows in three days with more than 1,000 miles to travel, both readymade excuses.

Yay to the 9:30 Club, Sleater-Kinney, Pepco, the fire department and the vast majority of the crowd who acted like adults and didn't flip out.

I take back all the mean things I say about D.C.   ;)

Anyone unable to attend the new date needs to either drop off or mail in his or her ticket stub. Mailed stubs must be postmarked no later than 8/4/06 and we will not accept tickets in person after 8/4/06:

A little nugget of info for those of you still looking for tickets.  From sleater-kinney.com

"NOTE: Due to the unfortunate fact that some people will not be able to make it to the rescheduled gig, there will be an indeterminate amount of tickets available at the box office the night of the show"

 good luck!
