i've always been surprised at how often cowboy mouth plays at the club for $25 or so, and how often it sells out. they haven't had much/any radio play since that one song in the '90s, have they?

Doesn't this describe about half the bands that play the 9:30 Club?  :-*

...fits the following description:

early 90's airplay with modest chart success
a smattering of albums since
somehow, the still hold a following that will sell 600-900 tickets at $20-25 whenever they come around, despite a lack of airplay in years

There's no right or wrong answer - just curious to see what artists better minds than mine might offer

I was thinking it described more Rams Head Live, but that may be 80s!

Garbage

If you add Garbage, then I may as well add Smashing Pumpkins...(unless they are played a bunch on satellite radio which I do not have)
and, Counting Crows, Big Head Todd, Hootie and the Blowfish, Sister Hazel, ack, forgot one more...oh, Wallflowers (?)
