twice in austin, once each in dallas, houston, new orleans and the patriot center. . .well, i was dating a jewish girl from minnesota for the patriot center show.

Let the record show that venerable drove from Waco to:

Austin (twice): 200 miles (r/t)
Dallas: 200 miles
Houston: 400 miles
New Orleans: 1100 miles

And only the one time he saw Sarah locally did he ever take a girl with him.

Your honor, I rest my case.

venerable gets the "good sports of the week" award.

He's generally a pretty good sport about it.

Most times this conversation will start after a couples bottles of wine with me and my Mrs and him and his Mrs when he walks over the iPod and picks a Sarah song.  It usually centers around a number of heterosexual life partners he's gone through for the different "phases" of his life.  None gets more laughs and jokes than his "chick rock" phase in college though.

It's probably grossly unfair because we all have our embarrassing moments, but he did type "yeah, I admit it" and I couldn't let go of how proud he is of his "chick rock" phase.  If he would just admit that he went to the Lilith Fair, I'd probably let it go...

Shit, then that's awesome. I wish I'd have seen a '94/'95 show of hers.
Woof.

Brrruuuuuuuuucccccccceeeee  over 50 times since The River tour in 1980....yeah I'm old.  Last one I saw at Hershey Park was probably in the top 10 of Bruce shows I've seen.  So he is still going strong for an old man.

Clutch is the only double digits for me.  And that's over a span of about 18 years or so.  Followed by Reverend Horton Heat and Ween, both of which would come in at 7-9 times.

Damn, some of you have seen a lot of concerts.  How in the hell do you see an artist 100 times?  Holy Christ.

2. Cheap Trick - 16 times
3. Peter Gabriel - 10
4. Rolling Stones - 9
   The Who - 9
   Bruce Springsteen - 9
   Pretenders - 9
5. David Bowie - 8
Red Hot Chili Peppers - 8
   Neil Young - 8
   U2 - 8
6. Wynton Marsalis - 7
   Jane's Addiction - 7
   Royal Crescent Mob - 7
   Prince - 7
   Bryan Ferry / Roxy Music - 7
   Pearl Jam - 7
   Smashing Pumpkins - 7
   Gipsy Kings - 7

i'm assuming you and venerable are about my age  and the lengths to which i would have gone in 94/95 to get some quality tail was a lot farther than a sarah show.  hell, even for some non-quality tail...

and i asked if she was canadian, because during my college years (which included 94/95), there was no way you were going to enjoy the good graces of a canuckistani female without ms mclachlan being in the mix.  i took a GF to see sarah at massey hall in T.O. for her b-day in '94, if i remember correctly.  boy was i rewarded once we got home.

Peter Gabriel - 10
David Bowie - 8
U2 - 8
Prince - 7

i have a new source of jealousy.

I've seen Sarah McLachlan a few times. The first time was in the summer of '94 in Pittsburgh, the second and third times were in the summers of '95 and '96 at Merriweather. The last time I saw her in concert was in 2003. None of them were Lilith Fairs. They were all excellent concerts, and I'd go see her again under the right circumstances (an album with some new material would be nice). I don't think Venerable has anything to be embarrassed about.

thanks for your support. . .120 Minutes used to show the video for "into the fire" a lot when solace was out, which was my introduction to her.  i don't think my college had a very substantial number of canadians. . .and the sorority girls didn't get into sarah until much later....

last night it occurred to me that i forgot another band. . .i've seen some combination of red house painters/mark kozelek/sun kil moon at least 7 times.
