Seriously, changing your shirt?  This isn't Barbara Striesand.  Did Joe Strummer change his shirt?

no, but off the top of my head i can remember that trent reznor and thom york have.  i know, i know, they don't meet with your hipsterific approval ("sell-outs", "pussies", etc), but that isn't the issue at hand - the question is whether an encore can serve the purpose of allowing an artist to get out of their sweaty clothing.  having seen both these bands previously on the tour, i can assure you these weren't wardrobe changes - they were artists who had sweated their asses off in an over-heated venue, and appreciated the opportunity that the 5-minute encore afforded them to get in to a dry shirt.  i've seen other musicians to it as well.  i'm not saying it's the main function of an encore, it's just one of the reasons an artist might appreciate a short break.

anyhoo, this isn't about "proof", and neither of us is going to change the other's mind.  i'm a nancy, and you're self-centered - so let's get back to talking about how great the TCV show was :D

I thought the opener was pretty awesome.

But I'm a sucker for quirky beatlesy psych-pop.

Agreed.  Definitely not what I expected when I read the opener was QOTSA's bassist's band.  But they were great, I though.

Yeah, they were pretty decent.  I made the comment (and this is no judgment one way or another on their music), but they're one teen drama soundtrack away from being known.  Half of those songs would've been right at home on the OC.  Not sure I cared enough to listen more, but they were definitely enjoyable.

Time to pop your ear cherry bud

Just to be clear - I own earplugs.  Semi-expensive ones.

They. Ruin. Everything.

Agreed.  Ear plugs are for vaginas.  Or for My Bloody Valentine holocaust

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure putting an earplug in a vagina wouldn't accomplish much.

But I bet the MBV holocaust could cause vaginal stimulation.

I was right next to the speaker for the holocaust section at the National.  No ear plugs but was tone deaf for two days it was AMAZING, not the tone deaf part though  ;D

Is this based on experience?

I'm not at all interested in youtube clips.  I've avoided them entirely (except the official teaser clips), and I'll continue that.  But I am a bit surprised if there aren't any yet.

However, I would listen to a good quality recording, seeing as how there is no TCV album to fall in love with after the post-concert high.
