My top pick from last weekend's visit to Owen's Ordinary:
Oliver / expect no mercy:
woodford reserve barrel-aged (#44)
scotch ale/wee heavy/ 8.4% / md / 54º / Snifter / 10 Oz
brewed with smoked & peated malt; aged 6 months in
woodford reserve barrels; collaboraon with DuClaw(MD)
I've visited Owen's Ordinary twice now, couldn't be more disappointed. Beer list is definitely good to great for MoCo, but as expected like any "high end" restaurants in MoCo, the service is just atrocious.
First visit I popped by myself in as I was doing daddy duties at Target and Buy Buy Baby and just had a few pours. They requested I order the beer by number vs. the name and two of my sour style beers showed up with little to no carb (before Space tries to argue with me here, yes, i know some sours have little to no carb but these were completely flat). The the third beer was an entire pour of foam that he promised me was four ounces once it settled.
Second visit was with my partner last weekend and we ended up getting half of our bill comped it was so bad. Nearly 15 minutes to get drinks, messed up beer orders, steak that still had a heart beat (sent back and recooked still coming out bloody), etc. It's backed by too much money to fail, but what a disaster. I'm sure the kinks will work out at some point.
