You've also gotta get on the Black Breath record if you haven't yet. There's a beast of an album.
I want to hear that Salome record! They need to play some more shows too. One more album to add to my pretentious metal list is Unearthly Trance - V that thing was vicious, I can't believe I forgot about it.
Wilderness heart was cool too. Also I'm glad to see others dug the new Killing Joke. It was between that and Wino for album of the year for me.

Speaking of 'Black' bands, Black Tusk was probably my favorite hard record of the year

The Black Boned Angel (Birchville Cat Motel guy and somebody else) album is another good 'black' release.
(Can we count an album of which only 125 copies were pressed?)

yeah the Black Tusk record is cool. I like how they have a Buzzov*en cover thrown in there. They are quite the live attraction now too.

No, not really. Killsaly has heard of them and I would in no way consider him a 'nobody'.
Aw you are too kind Jag! (But we are definitely in the minority in our love of these bands...

These were definitely quality releases as well.

Stellarium - "Stellarium"
Soundpool - "Mirrors In Your Eyes"
Malory - "Pearl Diver"

Most years my top ten list is pretty easy to make and my #1 pick is usually very clear. This year is not the case. I'd have to say Flying Lotus was the 2010 album I enjoyed the most, though Black Tusk and Rick Ross were steady as well.

Flying Lotus 'Cosmogramma'
Black Tusk 'Taste the Sin'
Rick Ross 'Teflon Don'
Bare Wires 'Seeking Love'
Wild Nothing 'Gemini'
Dum Dum Girls 'I Will Be'
Kylesa 'Spiral Shadow'
Crystal Castles s/t
Electric Wizard 'Black Masses'
Major Stars 'Return to Form'

Also-rans:
Black Breath, Paul Cary, Erykah Badu, Darkthrone, Joanna Newsom, Best Coast, Sleigh Bells, Ratt, Drake, Wavves

And actually, I just realized that for some reason (shame? convenient memory lapse? urban vanilla? immaturity?) I neglected to mention that I listen to the Earl Sweatshirt a lot. Definitely my favorite out of all those Odd Future Wolfgang Kill Em All guys.

The Major Stars release does kick a lot of ass. There is a band that takes something that looks awful/cheesy on paper and makes it sound awesome.
