I was totally unaware of the DC presale and had to really look for it. If you guys hadn't mentioned it, I wouldn't have known it was happening. I'm glad that they're selling some shows out. That's a good sign. Those guys deserve a little validation and money for so much good music that never really got the attention it deserves.

In case anyone is interested...I did find something last week that reveals some of these artist presales  (the coming-soon page on 930)

Real fans have these on DVD. We don't watch the ABC Family syndicated cuts that are sped up 7.5% to fit in an additional commercial segment; it throws off the sublime comedic timing of Jaleel White.

Real boardies use the Just Announced Commentary thread to make comments about Just Announced shows as to not litter the boards second most useful thread with useless comments; it throws off the very useful purpose of the just announced thread.

Real boardies want Just Announced shut down. It's a community that's purpose is for people to have discussions. What you call useful is actually counter-intuitive to that cause. What you call useless comments is, in fact, that only things of any value in the thread.

jules, it's hard for me to back you when you make shit up like that.

for some it's a community.  for others, many others, it's a one-way source of information.  the two are not mutually exclusive and your interpretation certainly isn't the only one.

No, it's a community. It's a messageboard. Its intended purpose is for people to discuss things. It is not a mailing list. It is not ShowListDC. Those are one-way sources of information. The idea we should not discuss things on a messageboard because it might inconvenience someone who doesn't want to read for the few milliseconds it takes them to go to the next post is absurd. Its indefensibly absurd.

it's a message board, not a community.  community is what we make of it, and the community has been pretty clear about what it wants from JA.  to say that everything needs to be a discussion is asinine. 

you and i are having a discussion here in a thread dedicated to discussion.  it was not hard to keep our banter out of a thread dedicated to announcements..  demanding the "right" to blather on where it is clearly not wanted is neither righteous nor supportive of the community.

people don't want endless blah blah in JA.  why be a dick and "demand" that your right to spew forth be respected?  it's childish.

See, that's where you're dead wrong. Go look at the thread: I'm hardly the only one commenting on shows or posting non-listings in there. The "community" has not said they don't want it. That's easily disproven by the large number of people who don't abide by that "rule".

A small, extremely vocal minority (the 930.com NRA, if you will) want it. You've just been fooled by the hand-wringing by a few whiners into thinking there is some giant consensus on this fact.
