NEW YORK (AP) - Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. reported Tuesday that its first quarter loss more than doubled, due largely to expenses of $225 million in stock-related compensation to its star shock jock Howard Stern.

Sirius reported a net loss of $458.5 million, or 33 cents a share, for the January-March period compared with a loss of $193.6 million, or 15 cents a share, a year ago.

I acknowledged losses, and yet their stock is going up....

XMU (XM's only station playing indie) is one of the most dissapointing things about satellite radio. It has no personality, plays no older stuff, barely adds any new stuff and repeats the same mediocre songs endlessly.

your first opinion was that "o and a" are going to take ninety percent of howard fans.  that's not howard's old chair at k-rock, it's mr. roth's.  are you serious, though?  o and a and howard are quasi-rivals in a realm of their own understanding.  i can just see howard's fans giving in to the a-holes that are opie and anthony (that's an opinion, too).  your next opinion was that howard's show is a failure.  so you're saying that in three months time since the conception of the show, a single radio personality--in this day in age of ipods, twenty-four hour television assult, movies every tuesday on dvd at best buy, skinamax and porn to titilate--that can get two million listerners to switch to satellite radio (and wind up loving it over testical radio (another opinion)), with an estimate of four million by the end of 2006, a failure which is bombing?  ok.
plus, i am a sort-of newbie as well on here.  no senoir in my tea.  everybody thinks i am buckethead without the act.  just ask sonick or that other one; the one whom i make laugh.  have a good evening and welcome to the carnival!  my favorite opinion of yours was the one about how everyone is home on sundays.  you slaves to t.v. are all the same.   ;)

A just released study by Bridge Ratings asserts that 1.1 million Howard Stern fans went over to Sirius to be able to continue listening to him. They say this is about 8.4% of his former audience. They also state this migration of his listeners to Sirius has stalled in recent weeks.

2 million obviously switched for howard.
You cant just add all the people that got sirius
over the holiday season and assume they are for Stern.

and yes i'm a slave to my tv as i work 11 hours a day and listen to O&A for another 5

i dare . . . you're a good guy, or girl.  you're serious about your figures and you'll do fine on here.  i can't wait to see the war that is to assume on radio now that o and a are back to battle the rest of the pack.  i'm sure that they will be popular on testical radio.  i particularly enjoy the fact that WJFK is falling away because of howard's departure.  don and mike lost twenty-eight percent of their audience, supposedly because of it.  interesting.
