to circle back to beta band, where was this ever advertised as an "album show"? I don't think it was, was it?

The tour was promoted with the beta band 3 eps album rerelease but I didn’t know they would perform it all…

I'm surprised at how many old people are at this Nation of Language show.

I'm surprised at how many old people are at this Nation of Language show.

I remarked about this to my son, who isn't a fan, after I saw the last Nation of Language show.
He explained, correctly, that they have an 80s sound, so they appeal to old people like me.

Anyway, Nation of Language put on an amazing show last night. Wish it was a bit longer. Opener was pretty decent too.

I saw two people with shirts from the Autechre show the night before, so I wasn't the only one who went to both. That one was awful. Just one big indistinguishable mass of noise, in complete darkness (even the bars were closed). Granted, it's not my thing, I was just there to take a kid who's into them, but it was his choice to leave early, he was really disappointed.

I thought it was meant to be a bunch of blip bops not a giant mass?

I'm not super-familiar with them so didn't know that darkness was their schtick. But the sounds they made bore no discernible relation to their discography. We thought they would perform what they've recorded or at least something like it.

I'm open to all kinds of music, so didn't mind checking them out based on what I'd heard when asked to do so. And maybe I'm not able to critique it because I just don't get it. So if you enjoy this kind of thing (and many people do), that's great and God bless. Their recordings led me to expect something different.

Mark Broom was the best of the three acts, but had his own issues.

Cube (you have to find the right Cube, there are so many artists with this name) was OK. This was basically ambient music and I got a bit into it after a while. Broom was more typically techno-ish. Some of it was pretty good, but his set was marred by the light show. The strobes went hard and directly in our eyes at totally random intervals, such that looking at the stage was punishment. It really hurt our enjoyment of his set, was a huge distraction. (Strobe lights don't bother me, when they're not directly in my face.)

So Cube was normal lighting, and neither Broom not Autechre wanted to be seen. Broom would blind you if you tried to watch, Autechre was just dark (though early in their set the lights came on for about four seconds, everyone looked confused, then they went back off for good (or at least until a little over halfway through when we left)).

I've never understood why poor people defend rich people.  Its what leads so many to vote against their own economic self interest.

Anyone on Facebook reading the criticisms of Billie Eilish for criticizing billionaires?

Well damn.

https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/billy-strings/2025/cfg-bank-arena-baltimore-md-63478eeb.html

I was impressed that they learned so many songs in short order for just one show.

My wife says it's unimpressive because for musicians, most songs are alike.

Side note: Do only men write spooky or creepy songs? Couldn't they have done Pink Pony Club?
