RS isn't letting me read this one on my 'puter without signing in, but was able to skim on the phone..

as one person points out this feel a bit like a grift... because sell an expensive token for future concerts seems a risky buy, because the band could just break up after selling them... plus, it seems very Julian's American, where the well heeled can get access via their bankroll

Kings of Leon Will Be the First Band to Release an Album as an NFT
The band’s revolutionary tokens will unlock special perks like limited-edition vinyl and front row seats to future concerts

and yes this would lose the hutchmo market :P

I mean the good thing about NFT is each 'piece is unique and can enable the artist to connect directly with the owners of that
But are fans going to want to buy stuff like that...I guess the hardcore ones will
Would you need a pono to play said musical piece?

not sure how you can't just make a copy without the NFT, you just wouldn't get the NTF perks
I guess they could convince phone/media players to only play NFT music and block those without NTF?

I just think the term Non-Fungible is a non-starter for many ;)

i guess for a artist\band just starting out this could be seen as speculative kickstarter type approach, for the established bands they can sell access and for a catalog artist it could provide access to unreleased stuff...

seems like a grifty type of fan club...

Animals That Look Like They’re About To Drop The Hottest Albums Ever

these are awesome.

But most of these records would not age well. Lots of these guys are gonna get cancelled.

Ok I know this is not the NFT thread, but someone just spent $69 Million on some NFT art
https://nypost.com/2021/03/12/mysterious-crypto-investor-reportedly-bought-69m-beeple-art/
what is crazy is you can actually download and display an exact copy (minus the nft) for free

Yes we probably need an NFT thread, but I’m really hoping this nonsense burns itself out soon..

NFTs have entered the pirating phase,  people have begun  tokenizing other peoples stuff and there is a list of who to block on Twitter.

This is really going to effect someone like the Effin’ Bird guy,  as he already has to deal with the pirates who routinely use those print on demand sites to attempt to use his stuff.

Once something is tokenized it appears they essentially have copyrighted it for their own.  Because what this world needs is every meme maker tokenizing their stuff so they claim it’s their original idea and then monetize it.

What seems like on paper a way for creators to in theory get an upper hand, is rapidly becoming useless
