Based on tweets from both Ride and The Charlatans a few minutes apart, I'm sensing a co-headlining US and Canada tour announcement coming from them soon.. i could be wrong and they will touring separately, but the timing seems a bit to of a coincidence

Looks like the Ride/The Charlatans US is pretty much a given…

Wow I am there if it comes to DC but where? Smells like Fillmore spirit…

Bands probably don’t want the venue taking part of their merch sales, so IMP venues are out.

this is standard practice across the industry.  yes, there are a few venues who don't adhere to this practice, but they are few and far between.

I am for certain* that the FFS takes a pound of flesh for every merch sale, so that can’t be the reason

When I worked at Warner Theatre -an Live Nation venue- they took 25% on merch.

I am sure FSS is the same.

I find it hard to believe that bands selling shirts that cost them $5 can’t make a profit on a $35 shirt cause 930 takes a cut. It seems overblown to me but I don’t know the ins and outs of the issue.

Theres a groundswell within the industry of venues pledging to not do this. Perhaps the artist-friendly, pure music Mecca that is 9:30 Club should help lead from the front.

I think that would be great.

Kind of amusing watching Julian take the piss out of IMP every chance he gets…

I don’t think that has happened. I am the only one here who has spoken truth to power!

Witness my legendary posts demanding more Latino rock from Seth!! Or my dozens of posts asking Seth to build a bigger venue and saying how booking shows at DAR was unconscionable! Not to mention my long running IMP shows at DAR boycott.

The record is clear.

IMP is superior to Live Nation Ticketmaster but it’s not perfect either. I feel equating them as Julian tries to do is a disservice to the truth.

Theres a groundswell within the industry of venues pledging to not do this. Perhaps the artist-friendly, pure music Mecca that is 9:30 Club should help lead from the front.

getting back to serious matters: that groundswell is only happening in the UK.
- https://www.nme.com/news/music/hundreds-of-venues-sign-up-to-not-take-cut-of-artists-merchandise-sales-but-campaigners-want-more-3282810
- https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/venues-stop-taking-merch-cut/
etc...

bands are clamoring for it on this side of the pond, obvs, and there is the recent launch of #MyMerch (via canada)... but it has not taken off yet here (i.e., no groundswell).  i'm not aware of any north american venues who have changes their cut-of-the-merch practices.

thus 930 is no better, and no worse, than the rest of the industry here (but that doesn't suit your narrative, so feel free to ignore and continue with your baseless trolling... admittedly it's occasionally entertaining)
