Let the guy have fun, dancing is better than prozac or therapy.

I'm more concerned about Chris Rock.

So with Blur and Pulp announcing South American dates, does this mean a US tour is in the planning?

A Blur and Pulp show in the fall at Merriweather would be ace...

Much better than anything off Magic Whip. That said, still annoyed at the prospect of new songs at Wembley next month . . .

Today I learned that the Mense@r song "Stardust' is actually a Bobby Gillespie diss track...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zfdao4uYFyc

All this is bubbling up because of the statement made by Martin Duffy's son Louie regarding his dad's final days and how he was being treated by Primal Scream.

Stuart Murdoch tweeted about it here and there is a link to the full statement in the re-tweet.

Here is the link to the statement
https://twitter.com/SteveDuffy99/status/1666352994118500353?s=20

The statement is a long read, but bottom line was Martin was binge alcoholic and was on a bender when he fell and hit his head which lead to his death.  But, the slightly damning part of the statement is directed at Primal Scream who is now essentially Bobby and Andrew with session musicians backing them.  Despite being a member of the band for over 30 years, Martin had been sidelined as a session musician within the group.  Was getting cutout of songwriting credits and didn't see any money when the Primal Scream catalog was sold.  The only money he was seeing as being part of the band was when they toured, which was less and less and the non-existence due to COVID.

That is so sad….

Probably the truth is somewhere in the middle…..still, not a good look for Bobby Gillespie, one of my musical heroes

No doubt there isn't a second side to the story, but what a tragic end to a talented musicians life... what that poor son had to deal with after his fathers fall

Yeah…it sucks

I think at some point musicians need to be honest with themselves and if they are getting squeezed find a new career. The Scream really slowed down after the early 2000s…. There wasn’t much money to be had. I doubt Bobby is rolling in it as much as one might think…

Bands start out being a bunch of friends drinking and shagging chicks but a few years later it’s a business and you really have to take care of yourself and not depend on the kindness of others….

I mean complaining about not getting paid for Utopian Ashes? That record probably sold between 1000-2000 copies! No money in it

Honestly it reads like a bitter grievance/score settling and does Duffy’s legacy no favors… while I empathize with his son I wish he hadn’t written that screed
