Well..as I have said to me the most important band / most influential of the past 40 years is Joy Division / New Order

This clip must drive Hooky crazy as he gets less camera time than even  Gillian

Stephen shows his pioneering metronomic drumming and Barney owns it...he gets little credit for his guitar work generally but I find few things do a better job of embodying post punk than his guitar

New Order during the transition from joy division to dance floor kings (1981-83) are fascinating

Barney’s book is a must read
